Early this morning, I got the sad news that Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, tested positive to COVID-19.
I share in the pain and anxiety that his testing positive might have brought to his family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers.
Prof Abayomi has performed excellently in office since his appointment.
He has been in the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 and it was through his hard work and unparalleled effort that the pandemic was controlled and brought to the barest minimum in Lagos with a population in excess of 20 million and settlement pattern that ordinarily would have seen the number of infections spiral out of control.
We must therefore commend his passion, dedication & commitment to duty in serving the good people of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.
I join all patriots in wishing him quick recovery and pray for total remission of the disease as he undergoes treatment.
