The member representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, has expressed appreciation to God almighty for sparing the lives of about 45 members of his constituency this morning when a BRT bus from Ikorodu terminal en route TBS terminal, Lagos Island, suddenly caught fire at Idiroko bus stop by Anthony along the Lagos-Ikorodu road.
Agunbiade, who is also the Majority Leader of the Assembly, also commended the prompt response of the rescue team that ensured that all the occupants of the bus were rescued unhurt.
According to reports, the bus was conveying 45 passengers when the incident occurred at about 11am today.
NEMA, Police Disaster Management Unit and the fire service rescued the passengers. The burnt bus, it was gathered, is a rescue-bus usually used to evacuate stranded passengers from broken down buses.
Eye witnesses claim the initial bus took off from Ikorodu but broke down at Owode which made the burnt bus to come to the aid of the passengers. The lawmaker who was full of appreciation to God almighty, promises to impress the need for more safety checks and procedures on the necessary authorities, as a result of this incident.
