Following the establishment of a Special Fund providing interest-free loans to eligible filmmakers resident in Lagos State by Gov. Sanwo-Olu, the Committee in charge of the administration of the loan has said that it will start accepting applications soon.
The Chairman of the Committee, Richard Mofe-Damijo, made this known recently when members of the committee met to deliberate on the modalities for the disbursement of the loan and other requirements.
He urged persons interested in the Special Fund to allow the Committee perfect its preliminary plans and arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
RMD informed interested practitioners that the categories of loan available under the Special Fund vary from N3m to N40m.
He added that the gesture is in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of the Lagos State Government, especially the Entertainment and Tourism pillar, being implemented through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTAC) and Lagos State Creative Industry Initiative (LACI).
Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently initiated an intervention project that will jump-start the transformation of the Entertainment and Tourism sector with the inauguration of a Committee on Film Production Empowerment, to fund youth creativity and entertainment activities The move, according to the Governor, followed the disruption caused by the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) that impacted negatively on the entertainment and tourism sectors in the State.
