In a bid to strengthen the growing rate of child expectancy and proper parental upbringing, Ikorodu Pioneer virtual lions club took its advocacy to a new route on the 25th of August 2021.

The club staged an awareness program for nursing mothers, orientating and engaging them on measures to effectively breastfeed their new babies while at the same time gradually shifting the feeding process to a solid food approach.

Facilitators also introduced an interactive session in the course of the program which took place at Mowokekere primary health care centre, given rooms for nursing mothers to gain better understanding.

The mothers were ecstatic as they learnt new approach to the different kinds of food to give their children at different stages between 6months- 9months then 9 months – 12months also 12 months and above.

In the aftermath of a successful program, the president of Ikorodu pioneer virtual lions club (Lion Mrs Adebukola Adefolayiga NLCF) stated, “As the president, I’m so overwhelmed. As a virtual club, The turn out of members and mobilization from the PHCC is so encouraging. The mothers were so coordinated and attentive. The entire staff of the health centre were totally supportive. I just want to say thank you. We look forward to more physical projects”

“The essence of the program is to educate nursing mothers on how to successfully wean their infants from exclusive breastfeeding to normal food gradually without frustrating them. We also talked about family planning”
