The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu local government (Hon Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina) made an inspection tour through the bad road network of Agura-Gberigbe axis in Ikorodu LG on the 30th of August 2021.
Accompanied by his vice-chairman (Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Alhaji Lateef Afini (SLG Ikorodu LG), Engr. Martins Odupekan (Council-Manager), Hon Adebowale Adebola (Council leader of the 5th assembly, Legislative arm of Ikorodu local government), Council Engineer, Clerk Of The House, Auditor, HOD Works, Budget & Health, the council boss perused the entire routes, identifying areas that require urgent repairs.
According to the chairman, measurements of the road channel parameters for adequate drainage to be done through affected street route needs to be ascertained, creation of four-way spacious lanes and also sand filling the badly dented areas to a surface point will be worked on.
“We have decided to come to this axis today, and truly the major Agura-Gberigbe road is bad, The people in this community can no longer transport themselves easily from here to Elepe down to Ikorodu central. This road is under Ikorodu Local Government and at one of our meetings we resolved to execute this inspection because the community CDA leadership cried to us for support in making the road accessible“
“I brought the management of Ikorodu local government with me to thoroughly have an oversight on this road. We discovered that Ewowa and the Onefold region of the road are more devastating. My decision is first to have a consultation with the state government and know when they’ll be ready to move in putting this road in good shape again”
“But aside from the state consultation, the local government will in the meantime do the palliative road work to make the area accessible for motorists”
“At this point, I want to strongly urge residents of Agura-Gberigbe community to remain calm, Both the state and local government is ready to work on the road, it is just a matter of time and also the season at which we’re in. It rains at any moment these days. We must be very observant and remain patient”
“But even at that, I want to assure residents in Agura-Gberigbe community that the road will be motorable in the next 3 months” Hon Wasiu Adesina Added
