The symbolic Sabo market in Ikorodu local government is currently receiving an extensive facelift as the council boss, Hon Wasiu Adesina officially flagged off the construction of 2 side drainages plus road surfacing on the 20th of October 2021.

A rehabilitation project that will transform the entrance point of the market within the space of 4 weeks to enhance better transactions and easy flow for prospective sellers and buyers.

With Councilors, Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors, Council-Manager, Heads of Department and Unit, Party Stalwarts and Chieftains, Royal and Religious Fathers, Community Development Committees /Associations, Market Leaders, Youth Leaders, Captains of Industries and
Representatives of Artisans present at the official flag off program, the council boss averred the project will aid better business transactions to boost revenue for Ikorodu LG.

“Our presence here today is to lay down yet another historic project which will be of benefit to everyone and the good people of Ikorodu at large. This council has been deliberating on numerous projects that will help the general public to fulfil promises made as a sequel of my last tenure agenda”

“Despite the pandemic Covid- 19 which have stopped many ongoing works from being completed, we thank God for his mercies that we are very much relieved from it and we can move ahead by paying attention to our pending works. More So, even though we had huge financial limitations due to the pandemic scourge, this leadership was still able to deliver some if not all of the proposals submitted

“The project being flagged off in the Sabo market today is just the new beginning of provision outlined for the market people to ensure rapid development in areas of infrastructure, sanitation and good health. This construction of drainages will create good channels for the free flow of floods, prevent blockages and serve as means of a clean environment especially now during the rainy season”

“Some projects that we embarked upon recently include; illuminating of Itun-nla Street with 85 watts energy bulbs, Reconstruction of Itunmaja Big Culvert, Reconstruction of Obun-Oke culvert, Complete renovating of Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat to provide a more conducive environment for staffs, Surfacing of Anibaba Junction / Sholafun Street with interlocking stones, Palliative measures on Isikalu Street, Palliative measures on Etunrenren Street, Grading of Borokini Dada Street (ward A), Grading of Agbele Road (Ward F), Provision of public toilets to the pupils of Salvation army primary school. Please note that this provision would also be extended to other Local Government Schools and Markets in Ikorodu for convenience purposes”

“I want to use this medium to advise everyone to be security conscious of their environment, appreciate and preserve what we have as our pride. I also implore all CDA/CDC, party members and stakeholders to join efforts to move this administration to greater heights which will surely benefit everybody for a long time for public purposes”

The council boss expresses his joy seeing the co-existence in Sabo Market, despite different cultures and tribes, he enjoins all to keep the environment clean at all times, preventing airborne and other transmitted diseases while simultaneously urging the market users to co-operate with the construction workers.
