
The Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, (NANNM), General Hospital lkorodu Chapter hosted its summit last week, 24th & 25th November, 2021.
The summit was held at the prestigious Oriwu Club Ikorodu with the theme, Nurses: A voice to lead, a vision for quality health care. The summit was also preceded by a sensitisation walk and medical outreach at the Sekumade of Ipakodo Palace.
The Medical Director, General Hospital Ikorodu, Dr Taiwo Hassan while addressing nurses at the summit, commended them for their selflessness and dedication to service but urged them to be more professional in the discharge of their duty.
He cautioned them not to delegate their duty to health attendants because of the menace of quacks and fake nurses in society. He stated that when some of these attendants exit the system they become the quackS of the profession because of the little experience they have acquired.
Awards of Excellence was also presented to the Medical Director and the Apex Nurse of the hospital, Mrs. Oluwatosin Adekoya by the association in appreciation of their contributions to quality health care delivery in the hospital.
The summit was attended by retired Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr Jemilade Longe, retired DNS LSHSC, Mrs F.0. Animashaun, retired ADNS, LSHSC, Mrs V.A. Oloruntegbe and members of the Health Management Committee (HMC) of General Hospital Ikorodu; representatives from the Ministry of Health, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and other General Hospitals in Lagos State. Also present at the event were nurses, midwives, labour unions, professional bodies/associations.
