It was a busy day at WBC hotels in Victoria Island Lagos on Tuesday, February 1st 2022, as mall of fame Nigeria set in motion it’s epic E-tourism business conference and awards, hosting the centre of excellence state and the rest of the nation

The physical and virtual symposium aimed at renovating the tourism industry to a digitally propelled market, did justice to it’s goal, bringing professionals from across the globe virtually to connect the dot and procure remedy to the tourism sector of Nigeria, as a tool to generate enormous revenue

Understanding the functions of technology in media as a leverage cottage to increase tourism potentials, E-tourism as stated by the organisers, boons enhanced ways to improve recreational activities amidst changing of the guard from a covid-19 pandemic fall out across the globe

From the get go, Mr Joseph Olugbenga Komolafe (Convener, Mall of Fame Nigeria) related the vision behind ‘E-tourism’ as a major game changer to the entire business industry, explaining it’s concepts, advantages and durational stages of modification

Tossing glints to diverse rooms where tourism can surge to break even, the event welcomed lagos waterbed chiefs such as Hon Ladi-Balogun (Managing Director, Lagferry) and Oluwadamilola Emmanuel (Lagos State waterways Authority, Laswa) whom both dissected agendas of the current administration to make water transportation a viable medium to sustain tourists pastimes

Special adviser to the Lagos State governor on Tourism, Hon Bonu Solomon was also in attendance, intimating guests and participants on the achievements made by Governor Sanwo-Olu to revive tourism in Lagos metropolis, highlighting ensuing projects soon to be commissioned for tourism purposes, i.e establishing the Nollywood acting village and also commissioning of the missionary entry point in Badagry

Nana Dashe Yakubu, a national author and tourism professional from Plateau state enlightened participants on the values of tourism and its wonders therein. She continued with a testimonial of her book on tourism, which has made its way into the school reading curriculum, approved by the federal government of Nigeria

She further urged participants (including the Lagos youths for Sanwo-Olu, who were all in attendance) to carve a niche in tourism by exploring the basic adventures crouching around its elements. She thereupon presented her book to special guests and dignitaries at the event.

On the virtual engagement session were global tourism experts such as Natasha Bowman (founder, JD SPHR), David Vequist (founder, centre for medical tourism research), Nigel Fell (EU President, world tourism association for culture and heritage) and Dmitriy Tin (Centre smart tourism UNWTO consultant Kazakhstan), inputting key areas to revamp tourism in Nigeria as a criterion to stimulate economic growth and development

Classical music by Wanyinna Arifeyan and DStone Martins thrilled guests as the symposium was further stretched with a special panel session that featured Hon Kehinde Quadri, Nana Yakubu, Dr Ayo Oyedokun and Tokunbo Sotinwa, deliberating on ways to reshape the mindset of Nigerians, shifting towards promoting tourism effectively, depicting outlets to produce earnings with the leisure scheme

Convener, Joseph Olugbenga later confirmed recipients for the E-tourism global and ambassadorial awards which includes; His Excellency, Executive Governor Of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Aliko Dangote, Actress Joke Silver, Omotola Jalade, Sola Sobowale, Lengendary Singer Onyeka Onwenu amongst others to be presented the honours on day two of the conference

The virtual and physical E-tourism conference will crescendo on Wednesday, 2nd of February 2022, ushering another panel and class session to be celebrated with awards presentation thereafter
