History was made in Ikorodu division yet again as Ikorodu Sapphire Lions club installed her first-ever female president on Sunday, the 13th of February 2022
Changing of the leadership guard which took place at the Concord event centre along Sagamu road in Ikorodu saw members, guests, families and proxy lions club executives gracing the ceremony to witness the official induction spectacle
The club, whose district year focuses on enhancing service journey through building “Bonds Of Kindness”, emphasizes the value of strong partnerships and team effort within clubs, zones, communities and beyond propelled Lion Olaniyan Oluwayemisi Abiola NLCF as its 3rd president
Known for conducting needs assessment and working with active health and lifestyle groups in the communities, the club concentrates on improving member satisfaction through a team approach, seeking out new local partnerships that address 5 Global Causes; Vision, Diabetes, Pediatric Cancer, Hunger and Environment to spread it’s the impact to more helpless people in the society
According to the remarks from the outgoing president (Lion David Abiodun Odumosu), the club Feed the hunger at Imota Town during his tenure, Purchased the Club’s new Gong and Gavel, organised a 5-day free Medical check-up catering to over 300 patients that required medical attention.
Lion Abiodun further urged members of Ikorodu Sapphire Lions Club to keep the flag flying, encouraging the incoming Executives to scale more new and greater heights.
With Lion (Mrs) Adefunke Oluranti Esan NLCF (former president of Ikorodu metro Lions Club) sitting as the mother of the day, the event also featured the installation of club officers and induction of new members (Matthew Abiodun Samuel, Kofoworola Adeyemi and Olajide Oloyede) officiated in by Lion Ahmed Ajayi NLCF
The high point of the event saw the official changing of the guard, as Lion David Abiodun Odumosu conferred the leadership medal to Lion Olaniyan Oluwayemisi Abiola as the 3rd President of Ikorodu Sapphire Lions club, making her the first female leader in charge of the service based entity
In her speech of acceptance, Lion Oluwayemisi Abiola stated, “it is my privilege to serve as the President of Ikorodu Sapphires Lions Club for the year 2021-2022. For all members electing me as the First Female President, it is a rare opportunity and I appreciate it sincerely and literally”
“It is my confidence that we’ll work in harmony together and increase the level of visibility of our club to the wider community as I look forward in my capacity as President to our Club to continuing its distinguished tradition of service to our community under the theme “ALIVE TO THE NEEDS.”
“As a team, we can go beyond the scope of any one individual in the Club and generate new ideas through members, Enhancing our measure of communication and our major aims and objectives throughout the community we’ll touchdown during this Lion calendar year” Lion Oluwayemisi Abiola concluded
