A free-feeding point for starved students at local government primary school baiyeku was created by Igbogbo royal lions club and commissioned by the district governor (Lion fortune watgbatsoma) on the 25th of February 2022
The project which also saw pupils of the public academy receiving free pairs of uniforms was overwhelmingly lauded by residents of the community and the school management
According to the club’s president (Lion Barr. Olatoun Adekoya), the project was borne out of the need to feed hungry children on the school premises
She continued, “It was learnt that at some point, the children will go around dirt to look for waste food debris to eat”
“On the verge of carrying out our project assessment, we felt the need to bring a solution to this challenge by creating a free food vendor within the school premises to support the pupils”
“Things are hard these days, and parents are feeling the heat more than ever before to provide for their family, this will sometimes leave the children without options, pushing them into crimes and all sought of social vices”
“As part of our feeding the hunger project, we made this one core to keep the children at ease as they continue to study and hope for a bright future. It is also an honour to have our district governor here to commission this feeding point, which makes this project dearer to us” Lion Barr. Adekoya expanded
In her remarks, the DG credited Igbogbo royal lions club for meeting the needs of the children, applauding the president for standing firm despite the club’s internal challenges
“If I was told that this club would be able to carry out a project like this, I will not believe even though am not surprised by these accomplishments”
“Anytime I see a project that is targeted at helping children, it makes my heart melt because they are the leaders of tomorrow, it is very unfortunate what most children have to go through today to scale”
“This food point is not only a sigh of relief for the school administration, but it is also a huge relief for parents of these pupils, it truly reflects our slogan, where there is a need, There is always a Lion” DG Wagbatsoma surmised
The DG subsequently commissioned an entrance block cast sign of the school which was renovated by Igbogbo royal lions Club before leaving the school premises
