The early afternoon of Sunday, 13th of March 2022 drew sudden nervousness to the hearts of residents around the Ewu-Elepe axis in Ikorodu division, as fire gutted the Solar plant within the premises of Elepe Junior grammar school
The Solar distribution facility which is responsible for providing electricity to the entire educational complex was engulfed in flames, rendering the interior power mechanism sterile
According to an inward eyewitness, the cause of the fire was unknown as the blaze took the school’s security personnel by surprise, eviscerating the facility (but was later quenched by the Lagos state Fire service).
Hon Saka Nurudeen Solaja (representing Ikorodu constituency 2 at the Lagos state house of Assembly), subsequently paid a quick damage control visit to the school, ascertaining the level of destruction
Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN) after his assessment, Hon Solaja stated, “I was actually on my way returning back to Ikorodu from Lagos when I learnt about the incident that took place (less than an hour ago) at Elepe Junior Grammar school”
“It is truly sad to see what had occurred here based on this fire outbreak, even the batteries cannot be recognised due to the severity of the blaze that devoured the structure”

“When it comes to electrical hazards of this kind, it’s inevitable. Only God can deter accidents like this from occurring, this facility has been installed for years and no one saw something like this happening not to even presume it on a Sunday”
Hon Saka Solaja later asserted that he has made the necessary buzzers to guarantee adequate measures and taken to reinstall the facility back to contour.
“I’ve spoken with the administrators in charge of the institution and I have also brought the attention of this incident to the audience of the permanent Secretary (Lagos State Ministry of Education) for a quick model solution to come through”
“The Lagos State Government knows the importance of this plant and how it benefits the school, so am sure in a very short period, we will ensure a new solar plant is installed back in Elepe Senior Grammar school” Hon Solaja Concluded
