The General Out-patient Department (GOPD) with its world-class equipment play a prominent role in providing medical care for all. Patients are treated to the highest standards of quality medical care.
The GOPD renders primary medical care to out-patients who are 13 years old and above.
It is the first port of call for most patients. The patients’ details are taken, they are triaged and vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and pulse oximetry are done and documented.
The patients are then seen by the medical doctors (the consultant family physicians, the chief medical officers, the principal medical officers, senior medical officers and medical officers), they are clerked to obtain history and are subsequently physically examined then followed with investigations depending on their presentations, they are treated; while those requiring specialist care are referred to the specialist clinics.
The services provided include medical consultations, counselling, health education, health promotion, wound dressing and administration of intramuscular injections, etc.
The GOPD is open Monday to Friday (8am to 4pm) except on public holidays.
