In Ikorodu division today, adding values to livelihood, putting smiles on the faces of residents, giving children the need to become better future leaders and ascertaining grassroots development goals have become key progressive pointers for most organisations and clubs.
With a mindset of ‘Government cannot do it alone’, Lions club across Ikorodu division has become very synonymous with community transformation and over time upswing in various sectors.
The club is now regarded as the hefty tenderness that maintains bestowing at any level necessary with its numerous calendar projects positioned to stimulate societal prosperity on a back to back basis.
Look no further in Ikorodu, which has been the major trajectory of Ikorodu metropolitan lions club from its inception. Making good on its numerous commitments to serve the needy at all expenses.
Revamping its promises once again, the club embarked on a rigorous act of assistance to both educational institutions and charity organisations in Ikorodu and also at the Ogijo area of Ogun State, Nigeria.
Spearheaded by the club’s president, Lion Babatunde Shobowale, the club on the 30th of March 2022, in its usual statute of humanity undertook a marathon ordinance of providing library materials (i.e Books) to the Lagos State Junior Model College, Igbokuta and Oriwu Junior Model College in Ikorodu.
Received by both school administrators in warmth and excitement, the apex club, also chaperoned by Zeeders Elite Club (considered to be her sister club) made true their promise most especially at the Lagos State Junior Model College, where the club was fully responsible for building the library for the school, creating a better learning environment for the students.
Mr Lawal Olusegun Hameed (Principal, Lagos State Junior Model College) while receiving the unit, lauded the club for staying consistent in their support to the school over the years, adding that the club should keep sowing into the lives of the future leaders
Lion Ahmed Ajayi (former president, Ikorodu metropolitan lions club) while presenting the books to the school delegates and students averred that the club would do more to aid educational activities in the school, he further praised the school administration for maintaining the library.
Lion Tunji Oredipe (Chairman of the project enactment) acquainted the administration with the current leadership and members of the club citing the club’s futuristic intentions towards the school.
Similarly, the club took the educational support program to Oriwu Junior Model College in Ikorodu (stocking books in its library). The members were later received by Mr Akeem Bello (Principal, Oriwu Senior Model College) as the club also commandeered the medium to congratulate the school on emerging victorious at the just concluded spelling bee competition in the whole of Lagos State.
It didn’t end there for Ikorodu metropolitan lions club, the club took a step further to visit the Child Lifeline Orphanage home situated along Ibeshe road, extending its hand of support by giving the charity organisation welfare packages like Bag of Rice, Box of Indomie Noodles, Beverages, Tubers of yam amongst other food items
The same act was displayed again by the club at Motherless Great Faith Orphanage Home (a non-government organisation that provides Godly care for the motherless, orphans and needy children) at shagamu road in Ogijo area of Ogun State.
In all (two schools, two orphanage homes with donations of books and welfare packages), the club was highly commended by caregivers in both organisations, affirming measures to utilise the welfare packages fairly.
Lions Adefunke Oluranti Esan (former President, Ikorodu metropolitan lions club), Lion Akamo Lookman Alao, Members from Laspotech Ikorodu Leo club, Hon Azeez Layode (President, Zeeders Elite Club), Hon Soga Odunukan (Chief Whip, Zeeders Elite Club), and Mr Ilyas Igiegbo (member, Zeeders Elite Club) were among members in attendance.
The project day execution also doubled as Lion Ahmed Ajayi’s birthday.
