Towards achieving the Lagos State T.H.E.M.E.S agenda led by the Mr Governor, Mr Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Administration.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale in the light of this, started on the 6th of April 2022 with the engagement and sensitisation of the Mother-Infant and Child Development MICHD program phase III in the 20 LG and 37 LCDAs across Lagos state, accompanied by the outstanding Directors across different departments from Office of Civic Engagement as well support staff who have highly diligent.
According to the Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, the sensitisation exercise is designed to facilitate awareness among the beneficiaries that will be partaking in this laudable project. Speaking during the presentation, (the pregnant women) on the importance of good nutrition and how it helps in the brain development of the baby from the womb.
She added that The expectation from beneficiaries of the program during her speech was that Mr Governor is looking forward to seeing you giving birth to civilly responsible citizens.
The Director Legislative Of Civic Engagement Mrs Ayodele also stated the opportunities for both pregnant women and their husbands in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Wealth Creation, Min of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation respectively. The MICHD consultant, Dr Erinosho, welcoming the pregnant women to the special occasions, explained their in-depth interest in the impact of this program on the beneficiaries and the society at large. He added, the importance and breakdown of each nutrient compiled in the MICHD food packs and supplements for them and their unborn babies respectively.
In this view, the MICHD program had cut across about 4 SDG goals and the Office of Investment and Sustainable Development Goals has also partnered with the Office of Civic Engagement on this Journey.
However, during this sensitisation exercise, the enrollment of beneficiaries into Lagos state health insurance scheme (Ultra Eko) for them to have access to free medical treatment after onboarding each mother on MICHD application software also accompanied by LASRA official to ensure all the mothers are registered under Lagos State Residential registration.
The visited locations for today 6th of April were;
– Odunbaku primary health care at Orile Agege
– Sango primary health care at Agege
– Onilekere primary health care at Ikeja
On this final note, The Special Adviser’s main expectation is to see our mothers eat a well-balanced diet during their pregnancy, the main reason why the MICHD PACK is given every week to our indigent pregnant mothers for proper brain development of the fetus and wellbeing of both mother and child.
To give birth and raise a civilly responsible child that will grow up to contribute positively to our society and not one that will exert pressure on it.
