The race for Lagos State house of Assembly in Ikorodu constituency 1 seat became hotter than it already is on the 21st of April 2022 as Gbolahan Adetokunbo Ogunleye joined the competitive pursuit in a stronger dimension.
Gbolahan, son of Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Apex Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ikorodu division and Governor Advisory Council member, declared his intention for the waterbed region precinct one as the sprint proceeds to heat up towards the primaries.
The official declaration saw leaders, stakeholders, community influencers including local government/local community development area council chiefs (Hon Wasiu Adesina, Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo and Hon Sulaimon Olarewaju) across Ikorodu constituency 1 storming the scene at the residence of the former deputy governor.
From the get-go, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye averred that it was the people who actually convinced him to allow his son enter the race, adding that it was never his inkling.
However, with eyes on the price, Gbolahan Ogunleye in his remarks promised supporters that he would push for bills that would attract surplus expansion projects to Ikorodu constituency one, if he’s given the opportunity to represent at the Lagos State house of assembly.
“It is all about establishing progressive relationships, this will in return create effective channel to push laws that will benefit Ikorodu, procuring many undertakings to Ikorodu like never before seen”
“My campaign is about propelling a greater Ikorodu, a new Ikorodu that will generate frontward transformation to extensively compliment the ongoing developmental phase in Lagos state” Gbolahan added
Hon Wasiu Adesina (executive chairman, Ikorodu local government) speaking on behalf of council chiefs in Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North LCDA stated that Gbolahan Ogunleye has the support of the councils based on the substantial service of his father towards the growth of the region.
Adesina continued, “We cannot quantify the sacrifice and contributions made by our former DG (Prince Abiodun Ogunleye) to develop this entire region, that is why in a bid to repay him for his absolute commitment and devotion, we’re standing behind Gbolahan Ogunleye in his purpose to represent Ikorodu constituency 1 at the Lagos State house of Assembly”
“With the administrative qualities that we have seen over time from our apex leader (who happens to be his father), we believe Gbolahan will do better if given the opportunity to represent Ikorodu constituency 1, that is why we’re officially endorsing him as the best aspirant for the job” Hon Wasiu Adesina asserted
Also in attendance were; Otunba TiMrs Jimoh (Chairman, Ikorodu division APC), Mrs Wunuola Osinowo (Lagos East APC Woman Leader), the three APC LGA chairmen, councillors and supervisors, APC ward executives, Omotayo Idris (NYCN, Ikorodu LG coordinator) and members of his OGA 2023 campaign committee.
