A major highlight of the 3rd annual edition of the Ramadan lecture program (presided over by Al-Imam Shakirudeen Akanni) in Ikorodu local government saw the Executive chairman, Hon Wasiu Adesina receiving a surprise honour from the Centre For Ethics And Self-Value Orientation.
The Lokoja based International anti-corruption NGO majored in exposing corruption, promoting ethical leadership, providing ethical education, and self-value orientation of global citizens, stormed the Ramadan lecture which took place in front of the Post office, Ita-Elewa axis of Ikorodu central on the 27th of April 2022.
Wasiu Adesina was officially conferred as an ‘Integrity Icon’ of Nigeria by the Centre which possesses approximately 1,500 whistleblowers in all local government areas in the country, annually engaged in the conducting of secret independent assessment of the activities of both public officials, individuals, and corporate organisations.
According to Prince Salih Musa Yakubu (Executive Director), the NGO, with the application of massive distribution of questionnaires, conducts opinion polls, interviews informants, budget tracks, and project site-visitation without the consent of the council boss assessment.
He added, “We are better equipped to know who does what, where, when, and how peradventure is found within the local government clime of the community”
“The thematics for this title conferment includes; Office Attendance of Staffs, Emotional Intelligence, Accessibility as verified by our Whistle Blowers, Cordination of Contract Biddings, Servicom compliance, Innovative Leadership, Due process, Curtailing of internal corruption and Participatory management” Prince Yakubu asserted
Chaperoned to Ikorodu local government by Ambassador Joseph Ekele Ijala and Balagbogbo Mana, the Founder of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, fully operational in the 36 states of the federation and funded by the Federal Government, proceeded to state that after a thorough assessment, Ikorodu local government is considered a none corrupt government entity under the leadership of Hon Wasiu Adesina.
The council boss in his brief remark of profound gratitude stated that he had no idea the NGO was existing around his administrative radar, adding that he only heard of the organisation about 3 months ago.
Adesina continued, “All I can say is that I appreciate God for his wisdom and direction over this administration, it has been a collective effort for me to attain this highly prestigious status because I am not the only council chairman in Lagos State, not to talk about the federal republic of Nigeria”
“This title is an indicator that I must continue to stay diligent and trustworthy as I continue to discharge my duty in the interest of the good people in Ikorodu local government. The best like they say is yet to come, this recognition is compelling me to perform more in office” Wasiu Adesina added
The organisation subsequently honoured the vice-chairman (Aarebirin Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba) and Leader of the Legislative Arm in Ikorodu local government, Hon Adebowale Adebola.
