The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, on the 15th of June 2022 hosted security Stakeholders meeting at Ikorodu Local government Secretariat hall.
Specially organised to consistently deliver antidote to the rise in security challenges encountered around the community, it’s aimed at presenting an educative and instructive phase of engaging residents in Ikorodu Local Government, thereby opening the floor for extensive contributions and feedback channels.
Hon. Wasiu Adesina, in his remarks explained that the security stakeholders meeting has become very significant and must be treated as a matter of urgency considering the security challenges besetting the nation.
“As the Chief Security Officer of Ikorodu Local Government I’ve decided to be proactive rather than reactive” Adesina enlarged
The D.P.O Shagamu police station CSP Adekunle Omishakin mumbled that the security situation of the country is worrisome, but the peace presently being enjoyed in Ikorodu division must be strengthened.
“What is morally right maybe legally wrong and what is legally right maybe morally wrong, most times we fall at the wrong side of the law claiming morality against legality”.
He urged the public to desist from harbouring criminals, and share sensitive information with relevant security agencies.
“Our biggest challenge is the enemy within who are concealing their love ones criminal vendettas, this has become a serious challenge to Law Enforcement, If we must eradicate crimes it means we must work collectively as a people” CSP Adekunle expanded
Representatives of different para-military groups, contributed by offering series of advices to improve the security architecture to promote peace in Ikorodu division.
CSP Balogun Aderemi D.P.O Ikorodu Division, LNSDC Co-ordinator, Ikorodu Local government, Mr Sanni Ibrahim, FRSC Mr Alabi Oluwseyi, Civil Defence Service corps, DS Adegboyega, Immigration officer Mrs. Aminat Adebayo and Mr. Kehinde Ayinwunyi of the NDLEA all offered useful information to sustain peace in Ikorodu.
However, representatives of non paramilitary groups like the Iya Oloja, Alhaja Taofeeqat Allison, Secretary, Arewa group MD Hassan amongst others promised to cooperate with the various security outfits to guarantee peace in Ikorodu.
The Chairman in the latter approved an addition of 50 more security personnel to improve the security structure of Ikorodu Local government. While, urging the public that security remains everyone business.
The session expired with a vote of thanks by the Vice-chairman, Aarebirin Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba.
In attendance at the Security meeting are members of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Adekunle Omishakin DPO, Shagamu Police station CSP Aderemi Balogun, DPO, Ikorodu Division, Hon. Adebowale Adebola (leader of the house), council administrators, representatives of paramilitary organisations, political stakeholders, traditional leaders and members of the public.
