Hon. Mathew Kola Arowolo, popularly known as MKO Arowolo, councillor representing Owode-Ibeshe ward C4 in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA is nothing short of a phenomenon as a result of his accomplishments as a councillor of his ward.
The ever-energetic motivator and pace-setting entrepreneur in the bio digester industry is a symbol to notice for his overtime role in grassroots expansion and infusions.
On the 20th of June 2022, Ikorodu News Network caught up with the now Chairman house committee on youths, sports and education who’s kept a relatively low profile ever since his return to the office for the second tenure as councillor.
Always shooting the phrase, “A call for leadership is a call for service and not personal enrichment”, the one-time best councillor of the year did not mix words in setting the record straight as regards his quietude.
Hon. Arowolo, started by acknowledging the likes of GAC member, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Chief Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Hon. Babajimi Benson (MHR) Ikorodu Federal Constituency, HRM, Oba Richard Abayomi, Olubeshe of Ibeshe and the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr Olusesan Daini, pointing out his return to office wouldn’t have been possible if not for the support he gained from those commanders.
Stating that his unusual muffler demeanour was meant to help regain his full capacity post-council elections, Hon. Arowolo expanded that he’s now ready and poised to return to his conventional mode of enhancing value to the community, most especially in his ward (Owode-Ibeshe).
Arowolo continued, “This time, am taking my contributions further into both the educational and sports sector to aid young scholars and capable youth gain massive recognition not just in my ward alone but the entire local council development area”.
“TUMEA 2022 (which means ‘The Ultimate Maths & English Ambassadors’) is positioned to showcase the best brains and motivate students in secondary schools (both public and private). It is about consecutively selecting the best students and giving more educational assistance”.
“LOBA CUP (which stands for ‘Leader Olorunfunmi Basorun’) is also on the pipeline to be launched soon for all our sports-loving youths in the community. It is a soccer tournament that will involve both Owode-ibeshe and the entire Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA. The game is organised to honour our father who has done so much for this great division of ours”.
“We must celebrate our leaders while they’re still alive and LOBA football competition is meant to achieve that purpose”.
Arowolo, asserted that his current trajectory and undertakings will not deter him from other signature projects like street grading and youth empowerment programs which he’s well known for.
“With the help of God and responsibilities in place, when I round up my labour in 2025, the entire Ikorodu division would feel accessible to say we had a council-man situated at Owode-Ibeshe who’s a role model. I want to proceed to labour without fear or favour and keep giving with my personal resources” Hon. Arowolo surmised
