As it struts, impediment has been rested on the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state amidst grievances ensuing from prospective nominees strew around the myriad local government of the State.
Unveiling a faulty indicator, all fingers are pointing towards the supervision technique of Dr Olajide Adediran, the Lagos State PDP gubernatorial candidate popularly known as JANDOR, prompting some hopefuls to inquire if the Lagos state PDP harbours any State Executives.
According to sources, the claims have resulted in a massive influx of Lagos PDP aspirants to the PDP Headquarters at Wadata plaza such that it has led to questioning the party’s structure in Lagos.
From house of representatives to house of assembly aspirants, it has been gathered that numerous calibres of persons from Lagos PDP have touched down Wadata which can only indicate a fracture at the Lagos state secretariat of the party.
Uche Monye, Oshodi Isolo federal constituency 1 aspirant has tagged the just concluded PDP primaries as selection instead of an election.
According to Monye, the primaries aren’t only a selfish act, it is also not in the interest of Peace, Fairness, Equality and Justice in PDP.
He continued, “This infringes on the rights of Aspirants who asides contributed their best to the progress of our party, but also paid the statutory Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms not mentioning other expenses incurred.
“I wish to clearly state that if the party chooses to stick to the selection of candidates by a selfish few rather than an election which is constitutional, then it becomes expedient for the fees paid by these Aspirants as well as the expenses incurred during the process of the purported primaries to be refunded to the Aspirants with immediate effect”.
“This should be the first step in reconciling all aggrieved Aspirants and their followers back to our party” Monye surmised
Another prospect, Wole Adewunmi also argued about an alleged expunging and substitution of one Are Azeez Ajibola’s name as the House of Representatives candidate for Apapa Federal Constituency, the official candidates list released by INEC, substantiating the omission of Are Azeez Ajibola’s name for Jandor’s anointed candidate, Salua Olasunkanmi Hakeem.
Adewunmi, who pointed fingers at Jandor as the perpetrator of the travesty explained that Chief Olabode George is in no way responsible for the act of gross misconduct, asserting that Jandor must avoid peddling his name as the brain behind this substitution.
He continued, “As forewarned, this travesty was orchestrated and masterminded by Jandor and his cohorts at the Office of the National Organising Secretary of the party. Information at our disposal has it that JANDOR utilized the instrumentality of his connections at the National Secretariat to carry out this coup d’etat against the people’s mandate”.
“Jandor’s audacious and atrocious moves have destabilized the party that many toiled to build in Lagos State. His constant feigning of ignorance does not in any way exonerate him from involvement in the upheavals currently being witnessed at all levels of the party in Lagos state. Not everyone can be fooled at the same time. It is no coincidence that the issues pervading Lagos are identical”.
“The party leaders, members of LGA and Ward Executive Committee of PDP in Apapa LGA are resolute in their quest to restore the mandate of ARE AZEEZ AJIBOLA as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Apapa Federal Constituency and will resist every plan to subvert the will of the people”.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we want to make it known that we will explore all legal means possible to ensure that the mandate of Are Azeez Ajibola is reinstated. On a final note, we call on the relevant organs of our great party to do the needful. Inaction on the part of the party will be seen as consent to this impunity and will come with accompanying consequences” Wole Adewunmi added
Furthermore, another Hon. Sunday Olawale Shobulo, PDP Agege constituency 1 Aspirant, Lagos State House of Assembly 2023, in an open letter to JANDOR, urged the gubernatorial candidate not to impose his D.G Seyi Bankole aka Banki on Agege constituency 1.
He continued, “I am saddened to hear that you have altered the party operations and also hijacked what could have been a credible process at the recently concluded primary election of the party”.
“You must remember that some of us have sacrificed for the party at different levels even before you arrive at the party, hence you must respect the process and allow due process to take its course”.
“This is me calling on you to tread softly and not allow the party to be divided into factions as a result of your interests. The idea of planting candidates of your choice in different constituencies across the state must be put to stop”.
“I advise you to retrace your steps and do what is right in the best interest of the party as we prepare towards a successful 2023” Hon. Shobulo asserted
With objections appearing from all niches, only time will demonstrate when the ongoing party upheaval hit its waterloo as the 2023 race pulls nigher.
