Reconciliation and unification of party members was the order of the day at the new secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ikorodu central as the new party exco was inaugurated on the 1st of July 2022.
Graced by GAC member and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and Executive Chairman, Ikorodu local government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, the decor was hovered to reimburse the party rear to its synergy as the present political pursuit centres more on the presidency.
With the 26 other L.G.A Exco perched, and 7 Wards Chairman that makes up the eligible and durable Ikorodu Central APC L.G.A party Excos, the chairman of Ikorodu Central L.G.A, Hon. Waheed Animashaun in his welcome address credited Prince Abiodun Ogunleye for his confidence and affirmation of the new Excos, simultaneously extending his appreciation to Hon. Wasiu Adesina for his financial support in keeping the party at ease.
Hon. Animashaun continued, “I also like to express our gratitude to the State and National Chairman for their final seal of approval to the Exco list despite many under current maneuvering to tamper and change the list”.
“Under my leadership, we shall focus on; Repositioning the party to allow for inclusiveness, Genuine reconciliation, Fairness and equitable distribution of opportunity to party members, Synergy with the local government chairman and political office holders for adequate sponsorship of the party and members, Discipline party operation and membership, and finally a Pragmatic approach to winning elections starting with aggressive voter’s registration for PVC”.
“I humbly request all party members to embrace this new Excos as it shall be interesting and rewarding, We promise not to let you down” Hon. Waheed Animashaun asserted
Before the inauguration, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Chairman, Ikorodu local government persuaded the new party excos to work on rigorous consolidation of members across board post-primary elections.
According to Adesina, “It is time for our party to come together so that we can continue to grow from strength to strength. Realistically, in politics, one will win while the other will lose, but that doesn’t change the fact that we’re from the same family”.
“I am enjoining the party chairman with the new exco and other leaders to start working on reconciling our aggrieved members, whatever it will take to achieve this aim, let it be known that the local government is here to support and assist this unifying growth process”.
“In conclusion, I want to express my profound gratitude to Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, for not only coming to establish this new party exco but also inducting former PDP members in Ikorodu Central who have now defected to our party, APC” Adesina surmised
Furthermore, Prince Ogunleye, exhorted the exco and party members to work together for success, both at the Local, State and National levels for the party to achieve supremacy come 2023.
Ogunleye, who emphasised the need for the new exco to vamp up their plans on ensuring members get their permanent voters’ cards (PVC), boosted the chairman’s prior speech in imploring party loyalists to gaze beyond every disagreement and merge for a bigger circuit.
“There is no doubt in our minds that labouring towards earning Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next president of the federal republic of Nigeria come 2023 presidential election has become our priority, this is why all hands must be on deck, we must now begin to work with love and propel our party”.
“As we equally celebrate the capabilities of our distinguished Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Hon. Babjimi Benson (Ikorodu federal constituency), the exco and party members should toil effectively for the victory of our flag bearer at the General election” Prince Ogunleye added
The new party exco was subsequently inaugurated as the apex leader and chairman further welcome the defected PDP members who affirmed to support and propelled the All Progressive Congress (APC) party to new levels.
