A synergy that has obtained wide applause across Ijede LCDA in Ikorodu division crescendo on the 12th of August 2022 at the UNAL discipline ground in Igbodu axis.
More than 20 selected individuals designated to participate in the free skill acquisition training organised by unique nelly Academy, sponsored by Ikorodu metropolitan lions club got graduated after two weeks of intensive practice.
Segmented into Make-up and Gele tieing sessions respectively, the empowerment program took a more progressive spin with the partnership gesture of the club, enticing more enthusiastic partakers across the community.
Conveying his joy over the 30 graduands, Lion Prince Tunji Oredipe (project coordinator and service chairperson, Ikorodu metropolitan lions club) credited the unique nelly academy for strutting tough to ensure selected beneficiaries were adequately trained and upgraded.
He further urged graduands to see the training as a stepping stone to greater opportunity, adding that they should be prepared to put their newly acquired skillset to work which will come in handy to make ends meet.
Lion Tunji continued, “It started like a minor planning process but today, we’re happy that approximately 30 youths now tend to make a difference in their respective community due to the new skills they’ve acquired”.
“For the Make-Up students, we also supported them with Foundation Kit (which is applied by make-up experts at the preliminary stage of their work), we made that provision to give them the start-up drive”
“On behalf of Lion Lasisi (president, Ikorodu metropolitan lions club), we congratulate all beneficiaries and we wish them prosperous endeavours ahead” Lion Tunji added
In her statement to all graduands, the principal of the unique nelly academy, Princess Ezuma Scholastica exhorted beneficiaries to take up the oversight challenge that comes along with their acquired skill, asserting that financial literacy should also be imbibed for them to scale through.
“It wasn’t an easy process to train and harbour these students for two weeks, but in all, we thank God for a successful training program that has produced another set of game changers to our community”.
“Catching them young can be described as the slogan of this program because our passion is to discover them at a very young age which can be reflected in the less than 10 years old girl that also participated in this exercise”.
“The program continues for students who are interested in further enhancing their skillsets to grow consistently, but what we have presented to them today can turn them into breadwinners for their families and I wish them success ahead” Princess Ezuma expanded
Theodore Dike, a beneficiary of the program who excelled in both the make-up and gele design training affirmed her gratitude to both the club and academy for exposing her to a new world of expertise.
“It was an awesome experience for me because things I thought I knew before when I enlisted for the training, I found out that my level of understanding was low and needed to learn more which the training did”.
“They paved the way for me and showed me how it’s done. For me, who’s also good at educating others about what I’ve learnt, I can say that partaking in this empowerment program impacted me enormously”.
“The collaboration between Ikorodu metropolitan lions club and the unique nelly academy is a unique one that made the training even more exciting and colourful for all participants, they’re simply a blessing to us all” Mrs Dike concluded.
All students were subsequently presented with certificates of successful practice.
