Excitement and optimism recharged pupils and administrators of Salvation Army primary school in Sabo axis as the Executive Chairman, Ikorodu local government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, chaperoned by both his legislative and executive officials graced the school on the 24th of August 2022.
In a bid to upscale education standards with adequate infrastructure in Ikorodu local government, the council boss and his entourage made their presence felt, reaffirming the council’s promise to aid a conducive atmosphere for students across the community.
With former deputy governor of Lagos state, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye as a special guest, the gathering was aimed at officially laying a 5-blocks classroom foundation for the school to enhance the edifice within 4 months.
In his speech, bolstering his resolve to heighten schools across the local government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina said the project is in continuation of his outlined goals lined out to be achieved by his council.
Citing the groundbreaking 5-Blocks of Classroom as the 3rd project attained in the same School, Adesina declared that his administration had built 6 Cubic Toilets which have been completed by the Local Government and also fenced the school compound.
Adesina communicated “Around December 2021, we inspected the School and noticed that the condition of the classrooms weren’t encouraging because pupils learn in dilapidated classrooms, still, the head teacher and staff continued to teach out of humanity because they needed to carry out their basic duties”.
“This administration believes that education is the foundation for all-round development, and the fabric of our society can only reflect growth based on the attention we give to the academic sector”.
“As we continue to project building schools with modern classrooms, today, we’re laying the foundation of 5-blocks ofclassroom for salvation army primary school which we consider a milestone to also mark one year in office of this leadership”.
“It cannot be over-emphasized how the people play a key role in the progress of our great Ikorodu local government, as I sincerely want to use this medium to appreciate the good people of Ikorodu and all our supporters for their backing and partnership with this administration so far”.
“Rome was not built in a day, therefore, we all must continue to work together to help our promising Local Government and make it an envy of all other Local Governments, in this unique State of excellence” Adesina concluded
Vice-Chairman of Ikorodu local government, Aarebirin Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba who also doubles as a special adviser to the council on education, complemented the chairman’s remarks, adding that the best is yet to come from the council in aiding quality education.
She continued, “We cannot appreciate the good people of Ikorodu local government enough for their consistent support and loyalty to our strategies, they’re the reason our administration has been impactful and monumental over time”.
“When I say Ikorodu is the best region in the entire world, I mean that from the depth of my heart, simply because of their commitment and dedication, we can see how bright our future is, and we’ll continue to work until we reach the peak”.
“There is no doubt that dividends of democracy will continue to illuminate this leadership and Just like the chairman said earlier, it is a collective effort, so, let us continue to join hands as a people with this council to ensure we persist to make Ikorodu local government the place to be” Folashade added.
Before the foundation laying, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Former Lagos state deputy governor and APC apex leader in Ikorodu, applauded Hon. Wasiu Adesina for executing such a laudable project, citing effective budget spending.
Prince Ogunleye, who further advised the school supervisors to imbibe a maintenance culture when the project is eventually completed, asserted that educational undertaking of such is in strong alignment with the State’s vision.
“This clearly shows the developmental antecedents of Adesina’s led council, it is a thing of joy to see this leadership support the educational sector in Ikorodu local government, given our children hope that they’re not forgotten”.
“When such projects are done more often, it gives more value to education and makes learning a thing of delight and passion which would correct the misguided foundation our youths of today are having” Prince Ogunleye strengthened
