The Lagos Education District 2 has held an advocacy programme as part of activities commemorating the 2022 Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month.
The Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Mrs Adekanye Anike led other members of Staff of the District to lend their voices to the campaign condemning rape and sexual violence against students, and other members of the society.
Mrs Adekanye noted that Lagos State “is very competent in handling these issues but there is a cultural and entitlement mentality that we must end as we all join hands to stop rape and all forms of domestic violence.
She appreciated the Executive Governor of Lagos State for committing so many resources towards securing the lives and dignity of Lagos State students in all schools across the State.
Adekanye also thanked the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo for always fighting the course of the Lagos Student and working so hard to take Lagos Education to an enviable state.
The TG/PS directed all Social Works Officers, Guidance Counsellors and Security Officials in schools to be extra sensitive and alert to these cases. She enjoined that we all have our parts to play in the homes, schools, religious institutions and offices.
