Members of the newly created Ikorodu Peculiar Lions club took to the interior axis of the Lagos state university of science and technology (formerly LASPOTECH) in Ikorodu on the 9th of September 2022.
The service to humanity-based club engaged students from different departments randomly, urging young minds to ascertain their sugar level with frequent diabetes tests.
The club applied the use of a diabetes App for quick tests and results thereafter, applying further caution for students to stay healthy.
Lion (Dr) Muhammad Ogidi, the first vice president of the club shared his experience with Ikorodu News Network (INN) post-awareness campaign.
“We’ve been here for over 3 hours, creating understanding for students, allowing them to know their minimum status, clarifying the importance of a healthy lifestyle”.
“Honestly, I can say that the reaction has been very welcoming, the students are keen on knowing their stance and checking their vital signs”.
“Most of the results we got are very encouraging because the students also do exercise which has positioned their sugar level at the equilibrium stage and my advice is for them to always keep fit” Lion Ogidi added
Lion David Akinosho, chartered President, Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club further shared more light on the essence of the awareness.
“It is a global awareness campaign for the lions club, we are notifying the youths about the risks involved in not knowing their sugar level”.
“High blood pressure and unhealed injuries are some of the complications of diabetes”.
“We started by going to the marketplace at Sabo, later, we decided to come to this institution to also engage students and with the use of the App we’re able to detect their sugar levels”.
“Some of them requested the App which we gave to them to share their knowledge with their loved ones and also make them know their sugar level”.
“The essence of this crusade is for people to take their health more seriously” Lion Akinosho concluded
Ikorodu Peculiar Lions club is birthed under the International Lions Club district 404A1 Nigeria.
