Babajimi Benson MHR to come to their rescue. The ward D town in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA has been experiencing poor power supply for the past 2years, according to dwellers. Bringing Ikorodu News Network (INN) attention to the challenge on the 11th of March 2023, residents revealed that the problem started when they had issues with their transformer, which Ikeja Electric opted to fix. Mr Rilwan Adewale Isabajo explains, "Ikeja Electric took the transformer to repair, but on returning it, they brought back another transformer with a lower capacity, which could not carry our entire community like the prior one". "We were automatically placed on light rotation and were informed to source for another transformer to balance our community power supply usage". "Ever since then, half of our neighbourhood does not have light due to the rotation". "Information we also learnt was that Ikeja Electric Company requested the community construct a slab for the new transformer to be placed, which they've done but still, we are yet to see a new transformer," Rilwan Adewale said. Moving around the town, Ikorodu News Network (INN) saw that the power supply shortage is presently affecting areas like; Alogba Street leading to AP bus stop, Ajetunmobi Street, Ajelebo Street, Salisu street, Adelegan street, Alhaji KSB kamoju close, Oluwoye community, Abule Ibeshe, Abiodun Ogurinde crescent, all in Ibeshe Titun community. He continued, "Whenever we try to engage our CDA leadership on the matter, we end up with no progressive response to the sob, and efforts to reach out to Ikeja Electric have also proved abortive". "Businesses are running down and homes are steadily operating on generators alone, for those that have the money". "Early this year, 27th of January, we wrote to the office of our federal lawmaker, Honourable Babajimi Benson, bemoaning on this same matter and seeking his support". "We believe that his intervention will go a long way to remedy our challenge" Rilwan Adewale asserted Another resident who accompanied Mr Rilwan Adewale further said that the light shortage has resulted in daily difficulties and botheration. He added that residents will be greatly benefitted if the community's request for the transformer is attended to with timely effort. The only functioning transformer (returned by Ikeja Electric) is positioned at Guardian street.

The region, according to sources, has been sleeping in complete darkness for over two weeks which started on the 25th of February 2023, i.e Presidential Election Day to be precise. An input to Ikorodu News Network (INN), stated that the outage started in the early hours of Election Day after a brief rain pour before daytime. "We didn't have light for the entire Election Day, and the next day which was Sunday the 26th, someone said the light came briefly in the evening and went off again". "That was it!, as we speak now, today makes it exactly two weeks without light in the area and we need Ikeja Electric's intervention" the source asserted. Subsequently, communicating the community complaints to Ikeja Electric's media platform, Ikorodu News Network (INN) obtained from one of the power supply personnel that the Ijede undertaking team have been disseminating information regarding the supplying issue affecting customers on the Ijede feeder. He said that undertaking Unit staff have been engaging customers about the progress of work being done at Sabo Injection, adding that Ikeja Electric was also on IKD FM 106. 1 on the 9th of March 2023 to appeal to customers that work is currently going to restore supply. IKEJA ELECTRIC TAKES VALENTINE TO DOWN SYNDROME FOUNDATION NIGERIA, DONATES CONSUMABLE ®™√ INN Nigeria © img 20230216 wa00135529303999576053807 Leading Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja Electric Plc (IE) visited the Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria in Alamutu area, Fagba, Lagos to celebrate the 2023 Valentine's Day with the training centre for children and adults with down syndrome. The Chief Executive Officer Ikeja Electric, Folake Soetan said the company is passionate and deliberate about impacting the environment where she operates through various interventions under the company’s Corporate Social responsibility (P-CSR) initiatives. According to her, beyond the symbolic February 14th Valentine’s Day, we have to be deliberate and genuinely show love, and care and most importantly make the people around us happy. One of the best ways to show love is to visit such placards and put smiles on the faces of these children and this, in turn, turns out to bring joy and healing. “At Ikeja Electric, the operational vehicle for our P-CSR initiatives is the Employee Volunteer Scheme which encourages our employees to partner with the company in making a considerable impact through charitable activities and voluntary contribution of their time and resources towards the progress of communities in which we operate. She encouraged others to emulate IE and she also promised to continue to be an ambassador of Ikeja Electric. She exhibited some of the handmade crafts by the students as part of the Foundation’s entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and empowerment impacts to the visiting IE team and thanked the company for the visit while urging the management not to relent on the commitment to continuously show love to young and adult with down syndrome through her various CSR activities.

A collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, the Ikorodu Division Expo is organised by the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). Held at the LASUSTECH campus, It is organised to energise small-scale enterprises, recognising their key potential to an inclusive and sustainable recovery for economic development. According to Chief Shoderu, reiterating his earlier statement at the press conference before the launch, the Trade Fair (IKODIV) gives a platform to showcase products and services while exploring opportunities for growth and innovation. The Keynote Speaker and Lagos State Chairman, of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Dr Adams Adebayo emphasised the need to support MSMEs as they are the backbone of every economy. Dr Adams eliminated that the challenges confronting the MSMEs varied and include access to low-interest loans, inadequate infrastructure, subsistence and manual production, mindset and lack of innovative ideas. He continued, "Relevant institutions must create access to low-interest funds for entrepreneurs to access while there is a need for MSMEs to scale up their production to meet local and export needs". "I also want to advise the Government to create a three-year pre-retirement entrepreneurship/investment window to transform public servants into entrepreneurs", he stated. In his brief address, the Vice-Chancellor, of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya averred that the Trade Fair is an opportunity to grow the economy of the Ikorodu Division. Prof. Odusanya explained that focusing on the MSME sector can transform even the nation's economy and lift people out of poverty. In a sermon given to Muslim faithfuls on Wednesday, 29th of March 2023, marking the 71st birthday of Bola Tinubu, the chief Imam exhorted Nigerians to pray for the President-Elect, for Allah to bestow on him the ample disposition to oversee the nation. The liturgy was delivered after a special prayer and Thanksgiving session were held in the mosque dedicating Tinubu's birthday.
