As day 2 of the maiden edition of Ipakodo day celebration progressed, HRM, Oba (Engr.) Bashiru Aremu Shotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo and units of the planning committee paid a surprise visit to Ipakodo primary school.
The move initiated by Ipakodo day celebration organising board sought to briefly engage the pupils with reasons their academic activities seclude them from participating in the ongoing community festival.
Enthusiastic students received the paramount ruler and his entourage which also included Prof. Kunle Ade Wahab, Asiwaju of Ipakodo, High Chief Oludayo Shotomiwa, Olisa of Ipakodo, Chief O.Y.O Fatola, Baale of Ogolonto and Prince Olasunkanmi Shotonwa, Chairman, Ipakodo development association.
Encouraging the students, HRM, Oba (Engr.) Bashiru Aremu Shotonwa urged the learners to take their studies seriously for them to become good ambassadors of the neighbourhood.
Explaining the essence of the visit, HRM continued, “I believe you all know that just yesterday, we kicked off the maiden edition of the Ipakodo day celebration, which will be happening once every year. It is meant to promote our culture and tradition to the rest of the world”.
“We are aware your educational activities won’t allow you to observe this festival, it’s for that reason we’ve decided to pay you this surprise visit and present you some gift items”.
“It is only with the knowledge from school you can become great in life, so I want to urge you all to continue taking your book seriously because most of you will make this community proud” HRM prayed for the students.
Prof. Kunle Ade Wahab, who in his short statements complimented the king’s word of advice to the students asserted that the pupils must never lose focus to attain top-notch performance as they progress academically.
He also thanked the institute leadership for playing their role in guarding the pupils with discipline and morals, adding that the gifts presented by the king are courtesy Ipakodo day celebration 2022.
The high point of the stop was the presentation of books to the students through the school administration.
