Though the maiden edition of Ipakodo Day Celebration has come and gone, it left an indelible mark on both dwellers in the maritime community and all of the Ikorodu division.
The grand finale’s massive crowd, notable figures in attendance culminating with a show of cultural displays only positioned the organisers on a lofty yardstick to outperform it first version.
If one thing is certain, the celebration was able to successfully bridge the gap of delay as earlier stated by His Royal Majesty, Oba Bashiru Aremu Sotonwa (Sekumade of Ipakodo) in league up with other community festivals across the waterbed region.

Memorably, the celebration, at its peak acknowledged; Dr Taiwo Hassan Jimbo, Hon Sulaiman Kazeem Olanrewaju, Hon Enitan Jessica Oba, Hon Babajimi Benson, Prince T.S Animashaun, High Chief Lateef Animashaun, High Chief Oludayo Shotomiwa, Prince Engr Ganiyu Saka and Prince Rafiu Animashaun into Ipakodo honours’ list.
Senator Adetokunbo Mikhail Abiru, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya SAN, Chief Dr Bolaji Adeniji, Chief (Mrs) Sekinat Dosunmu-Solebo, Oloye Oye Solebo, Mr Yahaya Nurudeen Alabi and Chief J.O Aluko was presented with a special recognition award.
Not excluding how the First Baale of Ipakodo land, Late Chief Jinadu Animashaun-Shotonwa and first Sekumade, Oba Lasisi Rabiu Hassan Jimbo was inducted into the Ipakodo hall of Fame, prompting Dr Taiwo Hassan (executive director and CEO of Ikorodu general hospital) to donate the sum of one million naira (1,000,000.00) to kick start structuring of a hall of fame edifice for inductees to be immortalised.
