Project excel in literature is a creative masterpiece put together by the Theatre For Value Initiative to comprehend their academic texts better.
Visually presenting drama in the school’s curriculum, through movements and imagery to build pupils both educationally and morally, the initiative puts up with stories to stage plays, enhancing students’ method of understanding.
Though, the initiative has been touring around Lagos, it held its first edition in Ikorodu with 15 schools across the waterbed region converging at Labi Oasis theatre for a thrilling time, bringing written words to reality through drama.
Aiding adequate insight, students were fascinated by A John Kargbo’s Play on the 10th of November 2022.
The stage play allows the students to get a rational knowledge of the subjects they examine, enhancing their learning process not only for examination purposes but also for their overall learning tendencies.
Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Matilda Azum, Coordinator, of Theatre For Value Initiative, explained that the goal of the enterprise is to shape the mindset of teenagers and youth for positive norms.
She continued, “We’ve been inviting schools in Ikorodu to be part of our programs at the National Theatre in Lagos, the Global memorial hall at Lagos Island and also the University of Lagos (UNILAG)”.
“Heeding to their complaints about the traffic and distance in attending it, we decided to organised Ikorodu’s maiden edition to bring the program closer to them” She explained.
She expanded that the stage plays are formulated together to ease up academic practices, airing that sometimes, school life might be boring for students.
The Stage play ‘Let Me Die Alone’, was Managed by Ese Sam Crystal, Directed by Kaptaintony Ofili-Akpom, and Produced by Matilda Azum with Music and Dance Created by Gbolahan Raheem ‘Wings.
Matilda Azum later affirmed that though the play is targeted at private schools, it doesn’t exclude public institutions as the initiative is open to partnerships to expand its concept and presence.
