With the primary objective of promoting commerce, industry, and the economic growth of Ikorodu Division, Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) is spearheading the 2nd edition to further develop more networks between over 100 registered small and large-scale business owners, giving expansion tendencies thereof. Setting the conference in motion, Chief R.O Shoderu, President of ICCI, stated that the Chamber, over the years have helped tirelessly to create avenues of growth and improvement for businesses to thrive, asserting that they (ICCI) are proud to have made significant strides in achieving its objective. According to Chief Shoderu, the annual Trade Fair event, also known as IKODIV Trade Fair, is one of the many ways the ICCI has demonstrated its commitment to the economic development of the waterbed region in Lagos State. He continued, "This event provides a platform for entrepreneurs and business owners, including macro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) to showcase their products and services, network, and engage in business transactions". Conversing briefly on the ICCI and Lasustech synergy, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odunsanya, Vice-Chancellor of Lasustech, expressed his optimism on the trade fair not only promoting the growth of individual businesses but also contribute significantly to the economic development of Ikorodu Division. He affirmed his confidence that with ceaseless support, Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry will achieve even greater success in the coming years. An ICCI exco member, Prince Seye Adedipe, used the medium to call on the Lagos State Government over the poor condition of the industrial estate in the odogunyan axis of Ikorodu North LCDA. According to Prince Seye, both the Federal and State Government's purported promises is yet to yield. The vast industrial estate is considered the largest in west Africa. Prince Seye mumbled that if businesses must flourish then the industrial estate has to be rejuvenated, which would be an economic growth factor, not only in Ikorodu but all of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. Past President, Prof. Emeritus Kunle Ade Wahab, channelled his words of encouragement towards the media practitioners present at the press conference, instructing them to effectively propagate the course and essence of the Trade Fair, reaching out to licensed prospects. He also said that the media can equally play a big role in providing remedies towards challenges faced by the ICCI as underscored by Prince Seye if they carefully give emphasis to the plights and continuously sound the alarm for intervention. "The media should also help us reach out to everyone to visit the Trade Fair and witness, firsthand, the wealth of talent and entrepreneurial spirit that exists in our Division" Prof. Kunle Wahab asserted. Sola Obadimu, Director General of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, who was present at the conference lauded the ICCI for working on strategic means to create more business opportunities for traders. He also thanked Lasustech's administrators for joining heads together with ICCI to make the 2nd edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair a reality, citing that the collaboration is an open door for more futuristic synergies. Babajimi Benson MHR to come to their rescue. The ward D town in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA has been experiencing poor power supply for the past 2years, according to dwellers. Bringing Ikorodu News Network (INN) attention to the challenge on the 11th of March 2023, residents revealed that the problem started when they had issues with their transformer, which Ikeja Electric opted to fix. Mr Rilwan Adewale Isabajo explains, "Ikeja Electric took the transformer to repair, but on returning it, they brought back another transformer with a lower capacity, which could not carry our entire community like the prior one". "We were automatically placed on light rotation and were informed to source for another transformer to balance our community power supply usage". "Ever since then, half of our neighbourhood does not have light due to the rotation". "Information we also learnt was that Ikeja Electric Company requested the community construct a slab for the new transformer to be placed, which they've done but still, we are yet to see a new transformer," Rilwan Adewale said. Moving around the town, Ikorodu News Network (INN) saw that the power supply shortage is presently affecting areas like; Alogba Street leading to AP bus stop, Ajetunmobi Street, Ajelebo Street, Salisu street, Adelegan street, Alhaji KSB kamoju close, Oluwoye community, Abule Ibeshe, Abiodun Ogurinde crescent, all in Ibeshe Titun community. He continued, "Whenever we try to engage our CDA leadership on the matter, we end up with no progressive response to the sob, and efforts to reach out to Ikeja Electric have also proved abortive". "Businesses are running down and homes are steadily operating on generators alone, for those that have the money". "Early this year, 27th of January, we wrote to the office of our federal lawmaker, Honourable Babajimi Benson, bemoaning on this same matter and seeking his support". "We believe that his intervention will go a long way to remedy our challenge" Rilwan Adewale asserted Another resident who accompanied Mr Rilwan Adewale further said that the light shortage has resulted in daily difficulties and botheration. He added that residents will be greatly benefitted if the community's request for the transformer is attended to with timely effort. The only functioning transformer (returned by Ikeja Electric) is positioned at Guardian street.

Babajimi Benson MHR, is scaling up his unprecedented performance across the waterbed region of Lagos State. Barely a week after his triumph at the polls, the National Lawgiver is making good his prior promise to execute road projects within his jurisdictions. Rep. Benson, who days ago, commissioned the Paul Palmer street project in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, directed his work ethic to the Agbele community where he flagged off the reconstruction and upgrading of roads within the locale. The cross-section neighbourhood, under Ikorodu local government Ward F, received the federal legislator with praises and excitement, with Apex Leaders; former deputy governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Chief Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Alhaji Basorun Babatunde Rotinwa, Prince Kunle Aduborisa, women leaders, ward councillors, party members, youth leaders and other notable personality gracing the event. The Keynote Speaker and Lagos State Chairman, of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Dr Adams Adebayo emphasised the need to support MSMEs as they are the backbone of every economy. Dr Adams eliminated that the challenges confronting the MSMEs varied and include access to low-interest loans, inadequate infrastructure, subsistence and manual production, mindset and lack of innovative ideas. He continued, "Relevant institutions must create access to low-interest funds for entrepreneurs to access while there is a need for MSMEs to scale up their production to meet local and export needs". "I also want to advise the Government to create a three-year pre-retirement entrepreneurship/investment window to transform public servants into entrepreneurs", he stated. In his brief address, the Vice-Chancellor, of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya averred that the Trade Fair is an opportunity to grow the economy of the Ikorodu Division.
