3993jen3n7958283906264211869 The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina marked World Toilet Day on the 19th of November 2022, playing host to residents, schools and delegates from the Lagos state government.
Themed 'Sanitation and Underground water, Making the Invisible Visible', the annual program crusade against the use of open defecation in public places, roadsides, walkways, drainages and more.
Creating awareness and educating people on the adequate aim of toilets to prevent public hazards, and contagious infections and encouraging home proprietors to erect houses with healthy new toilets for tenants and toilet operators for general Public services, Ikorodu Local Government was among 3 LG i.e Ifako-Ijaiye and Lagos Island in the State proclaiming the theme simultaneously.
According to Hon Wasiu Adesina, the program blends with the United Nations' sustainable development goals, which seek to guarantee good health and sanitation.
The council boss continued, "In marking this event, we're emphasizing the peril of open defecation as it endangers the atmosphere to the incidence of infectious disease and other health deteriorating outbreaks in our primary society".
"It is paramount for me at this juncture to implore all our health officials, CDC stakeholders and uptight parties to undertake on mass knowledge march to their immediate community on the implications of open defecation and enjoin the use of clean and accessible toilets in public places, ensuring an epidemic free society, especially, Ikorodu Local Government".
"My administration is committed to secure adequate construction and actualisation of toilet facilities in Public places, such as markets and garages within Ikorodu Local Government" Adesina concluded
The event also featured dramatic performances from school students and health environment officials intended for at keeping the toilet clean.
Guests present include; Mr Sikiru Adetokunbo, representative of the PS MOH/EOS, Vice-Chairman, Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Vice Chairman Imota, Hon. Benson Ayodele, CM Engr. Martins Odupitan, SLG Hon. Lateef Afinni, fmr. SLG, Ikorodu West, SA/Supervisors, SSA/woman leader Hon. Rasheedat Bello, APC leaders, Alh. Owokodu Junaid, Alh Lamidi Folorusho, Alh. OLA4, CDC Chairman Alh. Lukeman Shonibare and CDC Chairmen. West/North, Market leaders Ikorodu, Alhaja Taofeekat Allinson, Ikorodu West, the CT Mr Alli- Balogun, State teams, Host dept. Event. San. Sola Amokunmosa, Hod/Hou, Teachers and Pupils of invited Pry. Schools, market men /women, artisans, Toilet Operators, Community members, info/crews, youths and Ikorodu Staff.
