Princess Abiodun Islamiyat Oyefusi, Lagos State Deputy-Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party and her party core celebrated the 31st Ikorodu Oga Day on the 19th of November 2022.
Projecting the culture and tourism of the waterbed region, members of her party took to the streets, joining both residents and indigenes alike to promote the foundation of the area.
Princess Islamiyat Oyefusi, daughter of the former monarch of Ikorodu kingdom, Late Oba Salaudeen Afolabi Oyefusi stated that though celebrating the land of her forefathers, her party plans to hold a mega rally soon in Ikorodu.
Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Princess Oyefusi pointed out that the party’s Governorship Candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a lover of culture and tourism nodded to the enthusiastic yearly gathering stir which he considers a revenue-generating endeavour for the development of the Ikorodu.
According to her, Ikorodu Oga Day is an extravaganza that is considered an enormous form of publicity to attract both local and foreign investors to the land.
Commending the festival as a celebration to be proud of, she expanded that the annual event should be fully utilised, tapping from its positive potential therein.
“We are proud to be a part of the culture, history and legacy of Ikorodu, which is very key to us as one-half of the royal house” she explained.
The deputy-governorship candidate and her loyalist strode from her castle down to Haruna axis in their numbers, then moved towards the Benson area (approaching Ikorodu roundabout) before returning to base.
