First of its kind to be published on Ikorodu News Network (INN), the ongoing sad tales between two couples living in Oreta axis in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA caught my attention like never before.
The sensitive nature of this tale has taken it to the desk of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Under the Ministry of Justice.
This is the story of Charles Anoku and Mofe Anoku, who are both present in a child custody battle and divorce crisis.
Please note that at the time of putting this story together, I had no access to Mrs Mofe Anoku to give attention to her version of the saga.
Charles, actually a coursemate of mine back then in school (Lagos State University) came across each other close to Ladega market road and immediately I observed he was limping towards me with a cane stick.
My good old friend had an accident some days prior, he just completed a printing job and was heading home when we stumbled on each other.
We exchanged pleasantries & at some point, I asked him what he was doing currently, and he told me he was into the printing press business, and he initially wanted to establish a school but ended up shutting it down, plus he’s a minister in the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Returning the same question to me, I told him that I operate Ikorodu News Network (INN), an online news blog that disseminates news, information and events within and outside the Ikorodu division.
He was wowed, and after congratulating me he requested my assistance which I didn’t get clarity on until I discussed it further with him.
We further traded courtesies and talked about school and life, he’s still the cool, calm and collect guy I knew back then, the only difference was his frail appearance and of course, his visibly swollen left foot which anyone could discern from afar.
I couldn’t help but inquired Charles about his health, seeing his condition, and then he took a deep breath and told me it was the same reason he wanted me to put a story together about his current predicament for others to learn.
My friend, Charles and his wife, Mofe had been married in 2011, while still in school, according to him, they were so much in love and things were very much on point as a couple working together to fulfil their destinies.
At some point after rounding up university in 2015 at Isolo local government area of Lagos State, Charles decided to bring his family to Ikorodu, where he already acquired a landed property with his mum and planned to develop it and expand his vision.
They relocated to Oreta axis of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, but today, the story is quite unfortunate from how it started between the couple.
According to Charles, his wife, Mofe left his house in March 2022, with plans never to return to her husband, citing irreconcilable differences.
Charles, on the other hand, has also vowed never to allow his wife to return to the marriage, pressing for sole custody of their three kids.
