Commemorating world Aids day on the 1st of December 2022, members of Ikorodu diamond lions club took to the passage axis of Ikorodu central to establish attention on the dangers of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, known commonly as Aids.
Led by the club’s president, Lion Babatunde Akadri ‘Sayleke’, the service to humanity-based club engaged residents on the need to perpetrate frequent tests while simultaneously distributing Condoms, crusading for safe sex among individuals.
Speaking to Ikorodu News Network, Post awareness campaign, Lion Idowu Tomac (club’s project coordinator), noted that the club worked together with the Heart2Heart foundation to successfully execute the project.
According to Lion Idowu, A lot of people are ignorant about sharing objects like needles and other sharp objects, males sharing hair clippers, and even females who are into pedicures and manicures, exposing themselves to the disease”.
He continued, “When it comes to the prevention of HIV-Aids, people are only concerned about having safe sex, but that’s not the only way to contract the sickness just as I’ve mentioned other mediums earlier”.
“Little mediums that are not given attention can endanger lives and afflict a person with this deadly virus”.
Lion Idowu asserted that those who’ve already contracted the disease should not be stigmatised or lose hope.
“Knowing on time and maintaining your health can make an individual whose living with the virus survive normal longevity, it means that having the virus is not an automatic death sentence”
The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA)stated earlier that over 1.6 million Nigerians are living with HIV.
