Ikorodu federal lawmaker, Hon Babajimi Benson MHR, chaperoned by his iCare foundation officials, touched down Eruwen community of Ikorodu North LCDA on the 3rd of December 2022.
Jimi Benson, who had earlier promised the community to facilitate its 3.3km road construction, showed up to make good on his pledge, signalling the official commencement of the project.
The flag-off program which was also attended by the chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo, Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr Sesan Daini, APC Party Chairman Ikorodu LGA, Hon Tijiani Animashaun, APC Ikorodu Constituency 1 Candidate for the Lagos State House Of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, and other distinguished stakeholders, has amassed huge applause due to its massive stretch and equal propensities to enhance the standard of living in the neighbourhood.
Though not too pleased with the turnout of dwellers to observe the iconic project takeoff, the national lawgiver substantiated that the project would be completed by the end of the first quarter in 2023.
According to Jimi Benson, he had met with the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a week before the project flag-off, to keep him in the loop of the undertaking, expanding that the Governor is fully aware of the operation.
He continued, “For residents also clamouring for the provision of transformers to leverage on this development, they should rest assured that plans are in place to provide such as we proceed”.
On the project duration, He said, “All things been equal, and with the cooperation of residents, we’re looking at completing this project by ending March 2023 because the full payment to execute the project is on the ground”.
“We’ve done record projects like this before in other parts of Ikorodu division, and this will not be exceptional as long the people support the designated contractors in making the work progressive”
“You know, I earlier expressed my dissatisfaction with the low turnout of residents, but that notwithstanding, we’ll go ahead to get the job done for the people” Jimi Benson added
Enlarging that he’ll be functioning together with the council chairman and house of assembly candidate representing constituency 1 to bring the course to reality, the federal legislator further stated that the road project will also be accompanied by street lights to aid safe movement at night time.
“It’s electioneering season, and we’ve always noticed that the participation of residents in Eruwen community is low, that is why we’re provoking improvement to them, so they can react positively to effective governance” He concluded
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo, pleaded with Hon. Jimi Benson on the low turnout of residents, declaring that the contributions of the federal lawmaker to his axis are never taken with levity.
Bldr Banjo, explaining that with all the numerous projects sitting on the desk of the Ikorodu House Of Rep Member, prioritising Eruwen road construction is a kind gesture that will only attract more growth to the community.
Banjo continued, “We’re working with the CDAs to strategically post banners around the community, notifying people that construction is ongoing, and I can assure our MHR that the council will ensure adequate compliance from residents to speed up the completion of the project”.
“I’ll also like to compliment our MHR on the delivery of 4 transformers to accompany this project, residents should be comfort assured that it will be done”.
Prince Adeniron Ogunbanwo, CDC chairperson supported the council chairman, assuring the federal lawmaker of active compliance by residents.
Hon. Tijani Animashaun, APC chairman Ikorodu LGA, lauded JB, as he’s fondly referred, commending his numerous efforts to develop the waterbed region in general.
Hon. Tijani stated that though he contested against Jimi Benson during his first run for the house of representatives back then, he’s now convinced that Jimi Benson is truly the man for the job.
He concluded by enjoining residents in Eruwen town to come out en mass and support the re-election bid of the federal lawmaker, asserting that good governance would be felt more in the community if JB returns.
Before the road inspection by Jimi Benson, the lawmaker also took out time to specially decorate a LAWMA officer (Mrs Joseph M.), who was present at the event.
Hon. Olakanmi Tijani, Councillor representing ward E2 in Ikorodu north LCDA (under which the project is positioned) lauded Jimi Benson for bringing quality representation to the community, assuring the federal lawmaker of his ward support towards his re-election.
