Ann Fatusin Charity Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA took to the pavilion axis of Adeboruwa’s palace on the 15th of December 2022, to cater to the elderly people.
Deemed a home for the homeless, widows, lonely old men, women and jobless individuals, the foundation embarked on a free medical checkup program, providing tests on blood pressure and sugar level.
Free welfare packages I.e rice, beans etc were also provided to every beneficiary of the medical program, wearing excitement and joy in the faces of the Igbogbo residents.
In all, over 50 elderly folks were catered for with the program spanning over seven hours.
Hajia Ronke Fatusin, founder of the Ann Fatusin Foundation in a brief interview with Ikorodu News Network (INN) explained that the humanity-based organisation comes to the palace yearly to support the old people.
She continued, “This is actually the second time this year we’re coming to the palace to aid the needy, and we have been doing it like this for the past three years now”.
“Generally, the foundation has been supporting others for the past ten years, using need assessment to cater to those who truly need help every quarter”.
“We made it a 2-in-1 program to simultaneously provide both medical and welfare aid to the residents because health is wealth, and also the yuletide is around the corner and a lot of people have nothing to eat,” she said
According to her, the state of the nation which has brought about a low economy has kept everyone on edge looking for money, thus, neglecting the older ones, who are no longer strong enough to make ends meet.
Hajia Fatusin further explained that the foundation is operating solely on her retirement reimbursement, pleading for capable stakeholders in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA to join her in aiding people in the community that needs urgent support.
She proceeded, “Some people are sick, they know it but due to lack of funds they can’t go to the hospital for tests and drugs, that’s why we brought medical experts and free drugs to provide the necessary examinations and medications”.
Hajia Ronke later indicated her intention to meet with the chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, for a synergy to create an old people’s home, where more needs will be fulfilled.
“My main intention is to partner with the council and establish an old people’s home where people who are really in need will get the right support” she concluded
