Paramount ruler of Ikorodu division, HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom and his wife, Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi wielded another remarkable Royal Christmas Carol at his palace on the 20th of December 2022.
The sunset yuletide program which starred the Patriarch Bolaji Methodist Cathedral Choir, featured 5 hymn carols, 9 lessons, Christmas traditional songs, words of exhortation and benediction.
Aimed at rejoicing and singing praise to God for the healthy year’s activities, the procedure brought prominent personalities; Chief Asia Kaoli, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo and others to the villa.
Oba Adewale Shotobi, who lighted the Christmas tree, took the first lesson, backing it with the Bible Scriptures, Gen. 1:1-3, 26-31, translating it also in the Yoruba dialect.
Chief Olukayode Olomo, Baale of Ojogbe, Chief Joseph Olatunji, Baale of Owutu, Chief Elizabeth Arinade Odulate and Mrs Bunmi Akerele took stretches in the readings which were coordinated by Sir Soji Onafowokan.
Before the benediction, Rev. J.O Solubi in his message to attendees elucidated the need for residents in Ikorodu district to be thankful to God for both provision and preservation of life al-through the year 2022.
Rev. Solubi further advised everyone to let old things pass away and remain positive while anticipating greater things ahead in the year to come.
He additionally commended the King for allowing the practice of Christian engagements in his palace.
Former commissioner for information in Lagos State, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, in his vote of thanks, put the paramount ruler on the spotlight yet again.
According to Otunba Elesho, “It’s always a great honour witnessing the Kabiesi opening doors to ecclesiastical gatherings at the palace”.
“It indicates that our Kabiesi acknowledges God, and truly understand the value of what attending to the things of God can fetch to this region” Otunba Elesho added.
Laying significance on the essence of the Carol occasion which is organised to convey honour to God, Before the close of the program, Oba Kabiru Shotobi recognised everyone for attending the religious event, which he relaid with royal blessings.
He further prodded the guests to brace themselves for tremendous improvement and growth which is coming to Ikorodu division.
Speaking to members of the press afterwards, the king explained that anyone expecting great things from God must maintain a behaviour of indebtedness, which is the concept behind the royal carol program.
He proceeded by pointing out that Ikorodu is gradually getting a kick out of good governance which reflects in its recent progress stage, affirming that a government that is labouring hard must be endorsed to do more.
“I see a better and brighter Ikorodu division come 2023, we are gradually growing and expanding day-to-day, all we have to do is appreciate God for where we’re currently and he will elevate us”.
“We must also throw our support behind this current Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration because they’ve not left us behind,” Oba Shotobi said.
The paramount ruler on the latter, expressed his excitement and optimism over the All Progressive Congress presidential flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, amplifying that his eventual emergence as president would be a huge gain.
