The highlight of the grand finale spectacle of the 36th Isiwu Eweye day celebrations featured the presentation of educational items to students in Ikorodu North LCDA.
Bred out of a special spelling bee competition organised by the planning committee of the occasion, arising students were wowed as the occasion set a tall significance on education.
Aimed at unifying all sectors in the region, the intellectual competition was organised in all public schools across Ikorodu North, singling out bright scholars to progress into the finals.
Among the winners are Falana Aliyah from Copeland Adamo and Awojobi Daniel from Odogunyan Senior Grammar school, who were given special gift items courtesy Prince Adedoyin Jokotex (PAJ) movement.
Unveiled by the event planning committee chairman, Mr Habeeb Adeyemi, and received by Mr Banji Kolawole on behalf of PAJ movement convener, Prince Adedoyin Jokotex, the items were subsequently presented to the students by HRM, Oba Olukayode David Raji, Eweye of Isiwu, Oba Aderibigbe Asunmo, Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom and Oba Kazeem Gbadamosi, Ologijo of Ogijo.
Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), planning committee Chairman, 36th Isiwu Eweye day celebration who also doubles as the general secretary of the PAJ movement disclosed that the spelling bee competition is meant to discover the intellectual potential of youngins in Ikorodu North, which is one of the objectives of PAJ movement.
According to Mr Habeeb, students were brought from all public schools in Isiwu, Erikorodu, Agbala, Odogunyan and Agbede communities to encompass in a spelling bee and debate competition.
“Winners from the competition are presented gift items today. It is done to encourage our students to take their studies very seriously, and encourage others to emulate as well,”.
“PAJ movement deemed it fit to use this medium as a giveback measure to put smiles in both the face of students and their parents and even the schools. As you can see, it’s the highlight of the occasion” Mr Habeeb added
The generous gesture of PAJ movement was equally lauded by the chairman of Isiwu Eweye Development Association, Mr Wasiu Banwo, who further strengthened the intellectual aid with a scholarship for senior secondary students.
Hon Ameen Olawale Ibrahim, the vice-chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, who stood in the gap for the Executive Chairman, Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo, was also part of the dignitaries that presented the gift items to beneficiaries.
