Executive chairman of Ikorodu LG, Hon. Wasiu Adesina has presented the year 2023 budget of 2,010,987,560.84 naira to the legislative compartment of the council.
Dated thursday, 2nd January 2022, the fiscal budget is tagged ‘A Budget Of Reality’ to foster the administration’s economic growth different expansion agenda.
Received by the council clerk, Mrs R.A Ibrahim, the budget was presented to the leader of the council, Hon. Adebowale Adebola, who presided over the proceedings.
Minutes and assertion of procedures were affirmed by Hon. Shotomiwa Wasiu, Majority leader, Hon. Idris Shokunbi, Chief Whip, Hon. Buraimoh Oluwakemi, Hon. Awolesi Omotayo, Hon. Oshikoya Oladimeji and Hon. Fatuga Mutiat, Deputy leader, which was subsequently documented by Mrs I.B Elusakin.
In his dialogue before the budget presentation, the council boss, Hon. Wasiu Adesina regarded the year 2023 budget as another milestone for the local government to foster its local financial improvement.
According to Hon. Adesina, presentation of the Budget to the legislative arm complies with the present legislative dispensation, which makes it critical for the executive arms of the local government to submit their budget to the legislative arm for approval.
Breaking down the fiscal budget analysis, Adesina explained that the total size of the 2023 proposed budget is Two Billion, Ten Million, Nine Hundred and Ninety-seven thousand, Five Hundred and Sixty Naira Eight Seven Kobo (N2,010,997,560.87).
Federal allocation for the year 2023 Five Hundred and sixty Million, Forty-Seven Thousand, Five hundred and sixty Naira, Eighty Four Kobo (N560,047,560.84), VAT is One Billion Naira, Three Hundred and Five Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira only (N1,305,500.00) and internal growth rate (IGR) bolts One Hundred and Five Million Naira, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only (N105,350,000.00).
He continued, “State coordinated revenue is Forty Million, One thousand Naira only (N40,001,000.00), and Salaries for the staff of the local government for the year 2023 will gulp Two Hundred and Thirty Million Naira Only (N230,000,000.00), While the teacher salaries for primary schools within Ikorodu Local Government will amount to Two Hundred and Thirty Million Naira Only (N230,000,000.00).
“82.72 million naira would be expended on compensations of political office holders, while N713,43million is reserved for pension, 129.4 million naira for local government teachers’ pension , and 18 million naira is committed for severance allowances”.
“The year 2023 budget is geared towards achieving a distinction outline, better planning and execution of our physical policies for Ikorodu Local Government”.
“It is important to remind everyone that it is our social duty to be responsible for the yearnings of our communities while adopting a gradual but advanced method primarily in the areas of infrastructural growth, regular development, strategy environmental sanitation, maintenance of peace and harmony, provision of adequate security of lives and property” Hon. Adesina added.
Lunging into politics and referring to his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the centrepiece of his effective administration, Hon. Wasiu Adesina implored the good people of Ikorodu to go out and collect their PVC and come out en-mass on the 25th of February 2023 and vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu Presidential and all other Candidates of APC, including; Governor Babjide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Senator Hon, Mikahil Abiru, hon. Babajimi Benson MHR, and Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye.
He ended by appreciating all party leaders and stakeholders, including the good people of Ikorodu LG for their unending love and support.
The presentation was graced by the Executive Vice-chairman, Aarebirin honourable (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, stakeholders, Management staff, APC party leaders, chiefs, religious leaders and political figures in the region, including former Secretary to the Lagos State Government and GAC member, Olorunfunmi Basorun.
