3003k3k3mmm6087650764772066080 United Area Club of Ikorodu, a conglomerate of bases in Ikorodu division has endorsed prospective candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The club, which comprises more than 40 guilds within the waterbed region made their intentions known at the Ita-Elewa youth activity centre on the 15th of February 2023.
Deemed a grassroots association, the UAC consists of family members with direct input into neighbourhood activities and projections.
After a collective declaration of support to the ruling party, Mr Oladeinjo Olarewaju, Chairman of the United Area Club of Ikorodu told Ikorodu News Network (INN) that his entire plethora of affiliates is backing the All Progressive Congress Candidates without any apologies. He proceeded, "Coming here today, our clubs are officially endorsing candidates of the ruling party, going into the general elections".
"Furthermore, we're mobilising our people to vote for candidates of the All Progressive Congress because we've seen that they're doing a tremendous job which we want them to continue".
He added that while the club quests to re-elect both returning and fresh aspirants of the party, he advised leaders to look into catering to areas they've not given attention to before.
"Our distinguished Senator Tokunbo Abiru has indeed done a lot, but going forward, he should also work on orientation programs to protect every good thing he has provided for the people, for purpose of preservation".
"But so far, with what we've seen?, we're confident that our representatives (Senator Abiru and Hon. Jimi Benson) have done a good job and we want them to continue, which means come February 25th and March 11th, we're going APC all the way" Mr Olarewaju asserted.
Comrade Pelumi Olalekan Rado, General Secretary of the UAC, clarified that even though the economy is undergoing challenges due to the increment in fuel price and naira scarcity, the election should stand as a defining moment for Nigeria.
Illustrating that every frustration should be channelled into voting and not violence, Comrade Pelumi Olalekan noted that there is hope in the governance method of the All Progressive Congress (APC), staring at its numerous candidates and their wealth of experience.
Differentiating the UAC as a Base club (not joint), with a stronger connection to the grassroots, Comrade Lekan pleaded with the consul representing Senator Abiru to ensure the club profit more from the Lagos East senatorial proxy after his reelection.
Media aid to Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, Enitan Olukotun, speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN) said that Senator Abiru recognises the stamina of the club, which was why he was asked to attend the meeting. According to Mr Olukotun, Senator Abiru's return to the Senate would be a continuance of his people-oriented programs and projects, mostly targeted at human capital development.
He said, "Sustaining accomplished projects is also part of his blueprint".
"Youths across the Lagos East are been taught how to create, grow and strengthen their businesses, and the ones in schools are provided bursaries as intervention plans by the distinguished Senator".
Olukotun further explained that the support schemes of Senator Abiru have never been one-sided, analyzing that farmers, market women and other business practitioners without educational backgrounds have gained from the Senator.
"Just within 2yrs of representing the Lagos East, over 1,250 market women have received business grants from my principal, farmers and so many MSMEs have received aid as well".
"His Covid-19 support scheme reached out to a lot of unlearned people and his agenda is to modify and reach out to a wider mass if he eventually returns to the Senate," he said.
Olukotun concluded by exhorting everyone to vote for all APC candidates to further enjoy the dividend of democracy.
"At the presidential level, there is no candidate more qualified as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which we all know, come to Lagos State, Governor Sanwo-Olu has achieved a lot, that's why he's called Mr Infrastructure, he deserves to return to the State House".
"In Lagos East, the many favourable developmental changes made by my principal, distinguished Senator Mukahil Adetokunbo Abiru, is obvious for all to see and electing him (on the February 25th) to return to the senate would be a continuation of his 'Doing-Good' agendas". "Our people should also not forget to put substantial vote behind Ikorodu federal lawmaker, known fondly as the Julius Berger of our time, Hon. Babajimi Benson MHR, who has done a lot for his constituents".
"For constituency 1/2, it's all about Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye (OGA) and Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (AMA) as the landslide triumph should reflect from top to bottom" Olukotun added
