South-West Agenda for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also known as SWAGA ’23, held a pre-election training program for women in Lagos State on the 20th of February 2023.
The event which also doubled as an empowerment procedure to assist mothers took place at the Surulere local government secretariat.
Administrative female leaders of the pro-APC group filed out in their numbers to execute the generous and educative program, hosted by the executive chairman of Surulere local government, Hon. Sulaiman Bamidele Yusuf.
The chairman, in his remarks, thanked the women’s group for promoting the laudable program which adds value to the lives of women in Lagos State as the nation prepares for the election.
He also explained that young fellows need to be educated about the leadership qualities of the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
As stated by Hon. Bamidele, “There are a lot of millennials who were not yet born during the governorship tenure and administrative era of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu”.
“They are unaware that he once ran the affairs of Lagos State, they have insufficient or no knowledge of his dispositions and accomplishments”.
“That’s why we need to create platforms that will educate them candidly about Asiwaju” He explained.
Outlining the program course, anchored by the faction’s head of publicity, Aarebirin Honourable (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, seized the medium to appreciate the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabimilla, who’s also representing Surulere constituency 1, for his leadership gaits and obligation to nation-building.
According to Folashade-Oba, the National Chairman of the Association of local government Vice-Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC) and vice-chairman of Ikorodu local government, the program is themed ‘Voters Training’, with a No PVC No Entry policy.
She continued, “It is just not training alone, we also packaged palliative for the women to make them understand that we truly care for them in this struggling time of our nation”.
“One of the integrity of good governance is empowerment, so we’re standing in the gap to reach out to women in the neighbourhood amidst the naira scarcity” Folashade-Oba asserted
Hon. Ayo Omidiran, SWAGA National Women Leader, extolled the strength of motherhood felt among the women present, urging them to continue in their show of support for the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“The training part of this program is to ensure there is no wastage of votes as we count down to the elections”.
“We have a lot of women here today, coming to represent their numerous populations. After the training, we’re sure they’ll take the wealth of knowledge ascertained back to their communities” Hon. Omidiran asserted.
Also speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN) Mr Oyetunde Ojo, SWAGA Chairman in Lagos State, clarified that the program is launched to orientate women on the forthcoming elections, while also using the medium to appreciate them for their passion and commitment towards the growth of the entire Nigeria political spectrum.
He noted, “Without any doubt, this is about having at the back of their minds that on the 25th of February and 11th of March, they should all come out and vote for the ruling party (APC)”.
“A vote for Asiwaju is a vote for a renewed Nigeria, and a vote for Governor Sanwo-Olu is a vote for a Lagos Rising”.
“It is about settling every APC flag-bearing candidate at the rear of their psyches, getting on into the elections” Hon. Oyetunde cited.
At the high point of the program, over one thousand women were presented with bags of welfare packages and enveloped cash prizes.
