The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Ikorodu federal lawmaker, Honourable Babajimi Adegoke Benson MHR, as the winner of the just concluded house of the representative election held in Ikorodu on the 25th of February 2023.
The decision was announced at the commission’s office in Ikorodu with party representatives present.
According to the report, in a total of 89,761 accredited voters, the All Progressive Congress (APC) gained 60,890 votes to clinch victory, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) followed with 15,966 votes.
The report correlated by Prof. Victor Ariole recorded 84,805 total valid votes and 3,680 rejected votes.
Speaking to reporters after the results were announced, Rep. Babajimi Benson thanked God, his family and leaders of his party (APC) for their fervent support which earned him another historic triumph.
He further appreciated the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for introducing him to politics.
“I want to thank the good people of Ikorodu federal Constituency for believing in me and my style of leadership, and I also can’t forget our honorary traditional institutions for standing by me”.
“This victory is overwhelming and am extremely happy about it”.
Rep. Benson in an enthusiastic manner, credited Ikorodu for their massive votes recorded at this just concluded general elections, citing their passion for good governance as unbeatable.
Explaining that the electoral work has not yet ended, Rep. Benson urged voters who couldn’t vote on the 25th to ensure to come out and vote on the 11th of March for the All Progressive Congress candidate at the state level, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“Our House Of Assembly candidates; Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye (OGA) for Ikorodu constituency 1 and Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (AMA) is still in line for our massive support”.
