Citing the waterbed region as the next big turf for freight forwarding to flourish, delegates from the Lagos State Government met Ikorodu Local Government officials on the 19th of April 2023.
The information and public exposure program was set in motion by the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.
A gathering convened to create awareness on Environmental Impact, enlightening Ikorodu residents and Ibeshe Community on the proposed construction of the ESSLIBRA Barge Terminal.
Projected to saddle at Ibeshe axis of the division is the landing where containers and heavy trucks can be offloaded without detracting from the movements of the general public or community activities.
Speaking briefly at the program, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Dr Gaji Omobolanle, represented by Mrs F. Olapade, said the project was initiated by the Federal Government to the State, which prompted the need to alert stakeholders at the grassroot level.
Explaining further, She said that the program is positioned to draw the attention of neighbouring communities and its stakeholders to the eventual operational actions of the wharf.
“With this sensitisation, councils, stakeholders and traditional rulers would be able to coordinate their wards and give adequate information as regards the functions of the anchorage”
“It also presents the numerous advantages and economic boosting tendencies of this project” she asserted
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu LG, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, who received the delegates warmly, appreciated the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his timely efforts and work standards.
Adesina equally seized the medium to congratulate the Governor on his 2nd term electoral victory at the just concluded gubernatorial elections.
The council boss, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Lateef Afinni in his speech emphasized the benefits of the proposed project at Ibeshe community.
He further called the undertaking a great development that will project the community into the spotlight, not only in Ikorodu but all of Lagos State.
Similarly, a video documentary and presentation draft of the project, which was displayed on projector, demonstrated economic growth, security, revenue generation, employment and other several concessions that will be basked by the community of Ibeshe.
Other guests present at the event include; Mr Abayomi Abolaji, Mr Adeola Adesanya, Ikorodu CDC Chairman, Alh. Lookman Shonibare, San. Mrs Omotosho (representing Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA), Mr Tijani Wasiu (representing Ibeshe Community), San. Sola Amokunmosa and her team, Lagos State MoE/WR dept team and residents of Ikorodu/ Ibeshe communities.
Ibeshe community is embedded under Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA.
