Former Lagos State Head of service commission chairman, and past chair of Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), Basorun (Alhaji) Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa was bestowed an Award of Excellence by the Nigerian Institute Of Physics on the 9th of May 2023.
The event took place at the Lagos State University Of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) Ikorodu (500 Seater Hall) as the Nigerian Institute Of Physics holds its 44th annual conference which runs from the 8th to the 12th of May 2023.
According to the Council of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP), Basorun Rotinwa was conferred the prestigious Award of Excellence of NIP, in recognition of his immense contribution to the Growth and Development of Science and Technology in Nigeria.
The council also cited Rotinwa’s professional excellence in Community Development, referencing his service towards education growth at primary, secondary and tertiary levels in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State.
Prof H.O Aboh, President of the Nigerian Institute of Physics; Prof Olumuyiwa Odusanya, Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Ikorodu; Olutayo Onanuga, LOC Chairman; and Prof Babatunde Rabiu, Director, United Nations African Regional Centre for space science and technology education (OAU) were all guests at the Award presentation program.
In his acceptance speech, Basorun Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa, now the President of Exclusive Club Ikorodu, said the Award implies he will maintain motivating the younger generation to continuously pursue their greatness.
Rotinwa who studied Physics as a first degree said the faculty is an important tool in science and technology to bring solutions to most societal challenges.
He continued, “Now that we’re faced with a shortage of power and some other challenges, individuals with this discipline are positioned to aid town planning as we all the Commerce and Industry sector”.
“When a margin of accuracy (in physics) is applied in an administrative setting, a lot of solution is provided, which aid the process of targeting results even as a business person or government” he asserted.
Accepting the prestigious Award, Basorun Rotinwa was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Adeola Rotinwa and executive members of the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
