The celebration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term labelled ‘Lagos Rising Youth Carnival’ displayed intellectual competitiveness in Ikorodu on the 21st of May 2023.
Organized as a harmonious show, the event exhibited robotic contests, attracting educational civil servants and stakeholders to Ikorodu Ultra Modern town hall.
Unveiling practical and technological experimentation, government officials were thrilled as the young minded learners showcased their level of understanding.
Public junior and senior schools across Lagos state, challenged in the bout, engaged in a series of practical presentations, depicting measures the Lagos State Government can improve its freight forwarding sector.
Pupils and Robotic Mission, Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN);
Akodu Tobiloba from community senior high school Alapere explained that his robot can unload freight from ships and deposit them in the port.
According to him, the essence of the robot is to offload shipments and transport people to the ship instead of them waiting for another means of transportation.
He named his robot Mind-Storm Inventory Robot.
Joe Halimat from CMS senior grammar school, referring to her robot as Leggo Might Storm EV3, said its mission is to secure the seaport.
Halimat said that her robot protects both imported and exported goods and also reduces the work burden on manpower.
“My robot functions to detect the right containers on the right ship to avoid misplacing or wastage of resources” she asserted.
Alabi Peculiar from Lagos State Senior Model College, who presented a Driving Base Robot, describe her gadget as a life-saving tool for both injured and displaced personnel on the seaport.
Winners Emerged!
After the contest, Eva Adelaja Senior Secondary School emerged in 1st position with a cash gift of one hundred thousand naira (100,000.00).
CMS secondary school came out second place with a cash gift of fifty thousand naira (50,000.00), while Igbokuta senior secondary school came third with a cash gift of thirty thousand naira (30,000.00).
Commending the schools before the presentation of the cash gift, Mr Olusegun Osinaike, Permanent Secretary, Tutor General of Education District 4, said with the little time that was given for schools to prepare, their outstanding performances indicate a passion and zeal to learn.
He asserted that the Lagos State Government, under the returning Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will further advance his T.H.E.M.E.S agenda on education to provide more sophisticated tools, strengthening academic practice in the State.
In addition, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, industry and Cooperative, Mrs Adetutu Ososanya praised the tenacity of the pupils, elucidating that intellectually driven students are the reason the LASG is always on its toes to enhance academic excellence in the State.
The event quickly followed with a series of entertaining performances by artists; Alhaji Sulaimon Adio “Atawewe”, TY Sleek, Dhee P, Da’Fresh Olorin, ATM, Hypeman Topz, Hypeman Morgan, Meyrah, Anthony CFR, Lammy Steps, etc with comedy from Still Young and Hold Something as MCs for the extravaganza.
Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Bldr. Adeola Adebisi Banjo, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olarenwaju, Secretary to Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Lateef Afinni, Vice-Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Femi Kareem, Vice-Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Olawale Ameen, Lagos State Chairman, National Youth Council Of Nigeria, Comrade Lekan Billiamin-Oba, Legislative Aid, Mr Oluwakemi Hassan, attended the event.
Coordinators of the NYCN across the Ikorodu division were also in attendance.
The show took place across the IBILE configuration of Lagos state in honour of the re-elected Governor.
