The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, in a recent interview with Ikorodu News Network (INN) disclosed that Ikorodu Local Government Council is set to organise a public hearing for its Local Security Joint Taskforce.
The hearing which will present a bill, consisting of eventual byelaws to support supervising residents of Ikorodu Local Government on security issues, will be publicly presented for the general populace to access via the hearing.
Detailing the oncoming security-oriented public hearing, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, asserted that the council has been deliberating on the bill.
According to Adesina, “The idea of the public hearing is to present the bill before residents in Ikorodu Local Government, so they can view it and also make their contributions to its credibility”.
“As we speak, 50 personnel have been undergoing training, to be enlisted in this local security joint taskforce and we’re making progress on the legislative side as well”.
“The Bill has passed two hearing phases at the legislative chamber, and the 3rd would be public, afterwards, a fourth hearing will take place at the chamber finally for the bill’s approval” Adesina explained
The council boss asserted later, that once the bill (which will reflect across the entire Ikorodu Division) is approved, there will then be an official inauguration of the Local Security Joint Taskforce at the council secretariat.
He continued, “The date for this public hearing will be announced soon, immediately after the May 29th swearing-in inauguration of Nigeria’s President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that of the returning Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu”.
“We also want to utilise your medium (Ikorodu News Network {INN}) to disseminate this bill to the general public in Ikorodu Local Government, Let them see it in advance and work on ways to amend and better it even before this hearing” Adesina concluded.
