The Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, received the founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo at his palace on the 8th of June 2023.
Pastor Ashimolowo, who’s also the President of Christ Compassion To The Rural World, paid a courtesy visit to the paramount ruler of the waterbed region in Lagos State, with plans to organise an international convention on the last quatre of 2023.
Approximately 80 communities in the central axis of Ikorodu Central were fully represented at the palace, culminating with high chiefs, Ayangbure-in-council, and baales.
Olori Abosede Kudirat Shotobi, wife of HRM, Sat by the side of the king as Ikorodu received the foremost clergyman.
Welcoming the Founder and his delegates, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, special aid to the king, described the visit as a moment of joy to see Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo back in Ikorodu.
He said, “We learnt that your missionary career started here in Ikorodu many years ago, and we’re pleased to see God bringing you back, not only to see us but also to come and advance the Kingdom of God here”.
“From the information I’ve gathered, the International convention to be organised by KICC in Ikorodu is a pleasant and laudable idea, which we’re looking forward to amassing with open arms”.
“We want to let you know that every assistance you need which the palace can provide, on behalf of the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, Consider it done!” Otunba Elesho affirmed.
Elesho also said that the palace will not just support the convention physically, but will also join the church in prayers to ensure the program ends up successful.
Before speaking about the program, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo reminded everyone that he had lived in Ikorodu 49years ago and left the waterbed region some 47years ago, adding that it’s a great feeling to be able to come back, and this time with the good news of Jesus Christ to touch the city.
Illustrating the program proper to the King and all present at the palace, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, said the assignment which is billed to undertake a major outreach in the Ikorodu division was placed in his heart by God after 3years of fervent prayers.
According to him, the program which will run for 7 consecutive days will provide welfare packages to cater to 50,000 residents in Ikorodu. Food items, clothes and educational gadgets for students will also be disbursed during the week-long program.
He continued, “Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), during the program, will support 200-300 families requiring medical operations with free surgeries at Ikorodu General Hospital”.
“60 million naira worth of prescription drugs will be doled out to residents after people have been diagnosed to know the right medication needed”.
Pastor Matthew illustrated that the last Saturday of the program will be a medical affair where Igbogbo Stadium (the venue for the convention) will be converted into an open hospital to cater for health-challenged individuals.
And on that same Saturday night, there will be a major evening crusade.
“We’re aware that Igbogbo Stadium is still under construction as we speak, but before coming here, we had a meeting with the Lagos State Government, and we’ve been told that the stadium will be completed by September, before the program set date (in November)”.
“Nigeria is at a crossroads and we’re going through a lot of challenges, we must bring help, relief and blessing to the people in Ikorodu” Pastor Ashimolowo asserted
Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo later presented ‘The Power Of Positive Prayers’, a book he authored that contains 15,000 prayer points to the King.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, in his speech, thanked Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo for coming to Ikorodu, calling the day remarkable.
Oba Kabiru said though Pastor Ashimolowo found his way back to Ikorodu, He (the King) has been peeking to meet with the clergyman for quite some time.
He continued, “When Pastor Adeboye, founder of the Redeem Christian Church of God came to Ikorodu for a special program, I requested he prayed for LASPOTECH to become a University, he did and it came to pass”.
“Later, when Pastor Folorunsho Kumuyi of Deeper Life Church visited Ikorodu for another special program, I requested he prayed for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become the next President of Nigeria, he did and today we have him as President”.
“For our dear Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, I only have one request for him, he should pray for us that the next Governor of Lagos State should come from Ikorodu because we’re long overdue for it”.
The King also suggested that the venue for the convention be shifted to LASUSTECH to have a bigger space.
Pastor Ashimolowo subsequently gave reasons as to why the church decided to use Igbogbo Stadium.
Oba Shotobi prayed for the church to continue to expand across the globe, adding that Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo should make KICC more visible in Ikorodu.
Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) Chairman, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo gave the closing remarks by appreciating Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo for allowing God to direct him back to Ikorodu, asserting that the entire division will be gazing ahead to work with his positive course.
Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo was accompanied by; Pastor Wole Oladiyun, Chief Mrs Folukemi Olusanya, Rev. Dr Janet Onaolapo, Rev. Jet Bankole, Dr Julie Emakpo, Commander Peter Olabode, Pst Ben Oyebanji, Rev. Dapo Taiwo, Pastor Ebenezer Olushola, Mugagi Olawole among others.
The event will hold from the 6th to the 11th of November 2023.
