Senator Adetokunbo Mukhail Abiru, Representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, has disclosed his reason for distributing food items to residents in his domain around Lagos State before the Ileya celebrations.
Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN) and other members of the press on Sunday, 25th of June 2023, Senator Abiru disclosed that the essence of the food support program is to appreciate his entire constituents for their constant backing of his administration.
Expressing his motives, Abiru stated that he’s thrilled to realize that his constituents believe in him and his leadership approach to enriching lives.
He continued, “I’ve procured this level of aid because we can’t ignore that things are a little difficult today in this country, which is not just happening only in Nigeria but across the world, some of the challenges resulted due to the war between Russia and Ukraine”.
“This welfare assistance is based on my capacity to help our people and to let them understand that we’ll continue to provide them the necessary aid they need to grow” Sen. Abiru asserted.
One thousand-five hundred food items were evenly distributed at his constituency office in Ikorodu, where inhabitants from the 6 council divisions converged to benefit from the scheme.
He noted that the same food support program is taking place across his other constituencies which include; Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Somolu and Kosofe.
In all, 6,000 welfare packages were distributed to residents.
Subsequently, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, illustrated that the main reason for establishing his SAIL Lab is to provide employment opportunities for the youths across the Lagos East.
Noting that the medium is to encourage and empower the upcoming generation, particularly the graduates living without jobs.
“Most times you have to target the area of support you should appropriate to these young individuals which would, in turn, transform their mindsets to become productive to the community”.
“Our focus is to get them involved in what we tagged as the fourth industrial revolution, which pertains to the world of technology and innovations,”
“During the commissioning of the SAIL Lab, we brought the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima to witness and inspect it, he saw the idea and said he’s taking it onboard into this current administration’s agenda, for it to get support at the federal level,” Senator Abiru said.
He further added that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu commissioned the SAIL Lab as well because the government must begin to tilt its hat towards aiding the technology sector, for integration purposes.
The Senator, who later noted that the welfare program will continue as a quarterly support scheme, received massive commendations from benefiting residents who see his kind gesture as a support act to ease the stress and financial constraints faced by Nigerians.
