A primary 3 student of Salvation Army school in Ikorodu, Miss Onofowope Mercy, needs help to check her eye complication.
11 years old Mercy, oblivious to the root cause of her ordeal, found out that she indeed has vision difficulties, which require urgent medical attention.
Upon physical scrutiny, little mercy is potentially suffering from short-sightedness, though after talking to her mother, INN gathered that she’s yet to go for a medical test due to lack of funds.
According to her mother, Mrs Helen Onofowope, Mercy has been having trouble seeing the board during class which has affected her academic performance over time.
She explains, “Honestly, I don’t know how it started because she wasn’t born with any sought of eye deficiency, it so happened that all of a sudden I started seeing the drop in her abilities due to the eye issues”.
“Even her teachers can attest to her present predicament, which I must be very honest with you, I don’t even have any source of financial strength to help my daughter in this problem she’s facing”.
“I am simply using this medium to ask for help because we’ve not been able to go for an eye test, so we don’t even know the severity of her plight. We’ll be grateful to anyone that can come to our aid at this moment” Mrs Helen said
Also speaking to Ikorodu News Network, Mrs Dawodu Oluwayemisi Elizabeth, Mercy’s teacher, explained that there has never been a day during school sessions where Mercy has completed her notes during class.
She said she noticed that Mercy squints her eyes and moves closer to the board to read the writing.
“No matter how she tries, she’s not been able to complete any subject note given in class, instead, you’ll find her struggling to see what was written on the board, while others are done with that particular lesson”.
Expressing her confidence in Mercy’s learning capacity, the teacher asserted that she believes if Mercy can be medically supported, her performance in school would improve tremendously.
Corroborating her mother’s quest to solicit help for mercy, the school is also craving support from capable individuals within Ikorodu division to assist the young scholar.
