In a bid to cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal in Ikorodu West LCDA, the council Chairman, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju initiated a food distribution program for residents across the council development area.
The heartwarming initiative was launched on the 17th of August 2023 at the Council Secretariat, attracting a huge number of dwellers.
A food dispersion subsidy relief scheme to support its residents, the welfare aid agenda has already catered to the needs of 5,000 individuals and families in the area.
According to the council boss, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem, “Through this program, the LCDA will provide essential food items for free to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious meals during these challenging times”.
He continued, “The initiative is a testament to my administration’s commitment to the well-being of our communities”.
“We’re not only addressing immediate food needs but also promoting a sense of unity and aid within Ikorodu West LCDA” Hon. Sulaimon asserted.
Furthermore, the executive chairman said that the council is also procuring cash for youths and adults to help enhance businesses in the region, putting in that the administration is working tooth and nail to stabilise civic and economic procedures.
He urged residents to be patient with the present government of Nigeria, explaining that eventually, things will get back to normal to aid a good standard of living for everyone.
In all, it was a major sigh of relief for beneficiaries of the program, encompassing stakeholders and traditional chiefs who have extolled the council boss for meeting the needs of residents (with the laudable welfare program) at a time of economic downturn.
