In a remarkable show of support, 3,200 residents in Ikorodu Local Government have benefited from a Food Bank relief program organised by the council to ameliorate the fuel subsidy removal impact.
The initiative, spearheaded by the council chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina (Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government) aims to alleviate the burden of rising fuel costs on the communities.
The scheme provides free food assistance to individuals and families affected by the fuel subsidy contraction.
In his words, to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Hon. Wasiu Adesina said that “With this Food Bank support program, essential sustenance items are distributed to those in need, ensuring that they have access to nutritious meals despite the economic challenges”.
“The food bank organised by the council stands as a shining example of my administration’s compassion in times of adversity.
“As I dot my two years in office, my numerous feats are to only demonstrate my commitment to the welfare of the good people in Ikorodu local government, whom I serve”.
“All we ask is for residents to be patient with this new government because eventually, everything will work together for our good and prosperity” Adesina added
The vulnerable, market men and women, transport workers, law enforcement officers, NBA Ikorodu Chapter, Ndigbos, Arewa communities, religious clerics and other members of the communities all benefitted from the program.
Stakeholders and community members have applauded Hon. Wasiu Adesina for his proactive approach to addressing the hardships faced by the residents.
According to some, the scheme has not only provided much-needed relief but has also fostered a sense of conformity and assistance within the town.
The Chairman further asserted that the welfare support program will be periodical.
